Finished in its original shade of light blue, this 1969 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 wears the correct early 1969 round reflectors on the front aprons, fenders, and rear bumper along with rectangular front turn signals introduced in the same year. The 1969 Toyota FJ40 also sports larger round tail lights, upgraded here to LED units along with the front running lights. The paint is described as “driver quality” with bubbles forming around some perimeter edges and on the tailgate near the license plate and spare wheel carrier. No rust exists underneath the truck and all the original metal was retained during the restoration. All five original wheels are clad in Coker STA Super Traxion tires. Inside the cabin, this 1969 Toyota FJ40 is outfitted with rare OEM dual heaters and the correct US-spec dashboard with central control knobs and large black windshield wiper handles. Seat belts and rubber floor mats are present along with aftermarket oil pressure and temperature gauges below the dash on the driver’s side. Much of this FJ’s interior retains its original patina, most notably the steering wheel, door hinges, and shift instruction plate. A new headliner was installed during the restoration. The rare dual heaters can be seen underneath the dashboard and behind the seat. A paint issue is noted under the driver’s side floor mat and around the pedals from a previous fluid leak. The odometer displays 14,288 original miles at the time of consignment.
The 1969 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was powered by a 3.9-liter 135-horsepower 6-cylinder engine backed by a column-mounted 3-speed manual transmission. This example has no known history of mechanical issues, and it features auto-locking hubs and a functional transfer case PTO. New brakes and a new brake master cylinder were added during the restoration.
