The final year of the R107 generation, this 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is a black over grey example with 90,289 miles at the time of listing. An extensive refresh was completed by the previous owner throughout 2016; this included installing a new soft top, replacing worn suspension components, and performing a full brake system refresh. The interior and 5.5-liter V8 received reconditioning as well, the details of which are listed below. This R107 560SL is now being offered from the Exotic Car Trader inventory with a clean title and a clean Carfax.

During the refresh in 2016, new 15” Sumitomo HTR Enhance grand touring all-season tires were installed and an alignment was performed. New door seals were installed, and the front spoiler was replaced with a new OEM piece painted to match. The original R107 wheels show little to no wear. The car’s paint retains a high degree of luster and is free of any major defects or damage, including the matching hardtop. No rust is noted anywhere. Inside the cabin, this 1988 Mercedes 560SL remains in nearly new condition with minimal wear throughout. 2016 saw a new soft top, full reconditioning for the leather seats and dashboard, and reconditioned and replaced door panels and wood trim. All equipment and instruments are noted to be in good working order. The odometer displays 90,289 miles at the time of listing.

The 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine producing 227 horsepower, enough to propel the German to a top speed of around 140 MPH. As part of the major refresh in 2016, the brake system received a new master cylinder, rotors, pads, calipers, hoses, and a full system flush. The suspension saw new upper control arms and front ball joints, while the driveline received a new battery, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, alternator and belt, and an auxiliary cooling fan. Other repairs and replacements are listed below. With Hagerty noting an uptick in R107 collectability in recent years, this well-maintained example is a solid daily driver that will stand the test of time.
