The idea of adding power to a Porsche 911 Turbo S might sound over-the-top, considering how nerve-wracking it already is. But again, is there anything like too much or enough power? And knowing how Brabus does it, there's more to any car they tune than just power. The Brabus 820 Porsche 911 Turbo S also has more aggressive styling, which suits it better. Unlike some of its siblings, such as the 911 GT3 and GT3 RS, the Turbo S has never had styling that depicts its power. Its design has been relatively held back throughout the years, and it's not only on the exterior that Brabus gave it a makeover. The interior also gets a fair share of Brabus exclusive upgrades, but before we get there, let's get into how much power the Brabus 820 Porsche 911 Turbo S has and how fast it is.
Powering the Brabus 820 Porsche 911 Turbo S is the same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six from the Turbo S. However, thanks to a Brabus Powerxtra upgrade kit that includes new turbocharged with larger turbine wheels and modified VTG adjustment, the engine makes 820 horsepower and 700 lb.ft. The Powerxtra kit also includes a control unit adapted to the ECU. Though not part of the kit, the car has a valved Brabus High-Performance Inconel exhaust that sounds fantastic. 0-60 mph takes 2.5 seconds, and the top speed maxes out at 211 mph, making the Brabus Turbo S one of the fastest cars Brabus has ever built. Despite the heavy use of carbon fiber, its weight remains majorly unaltered, tipping the scales at roughly 1,700 pounds. There's a noticeable change in driving dynamics, though, as Brabus also upgraded the suspension with fully adjustable sport springs to match the upgraded powertrain.
Every Brabus has a handcrafted interior, and the 820 Porsche 911 Turbo S is no exception. Like other models, a black theme sets the interior ambiance, complemented by red piping matching the Brabus logo on the passenger's side part of the dash, the door sills, floor mats, and the steering wheel, among other surfaces. The seats are lined in beautifully quilted leather that extends to the door cards, dash, steering wheel, and center console. Adding a performance-oriented edge to the lush cabin are carbon fiber elements on the center console and aluminum pedals that enhance grip. As standard, all examples have the Chrono package, which adds a Sport Chrono Clock atop the dash with red leather trim.
Aesthetically, the Brabus 820 Porsche 911 Turbo S is unmistakably a Brabus. There's no way you'd confuse the Brabus body kit for another, as it has all the cues to give you an idea of what it is. But compared to other Brabus cars, the changes aren't that extreme. The only majorly facelifted areas are the front bumper, which has slightly wider vents with exposed carbon surrounds, and an exposed carbon front splitter incorporating canards. Moving to the side, you'll also notice an exposed carbon fiber side skirt and the bespoke Brabus wheels, which can be 22-inch or 21-inch 10-spoke mono-blocks. The rear end isn't shy about its carbon fiber as well, with a redesigned carbon diffuser and carbon wing designed to sit atop the stock Turbo S ducktail.
Like in most of their cars, Brabus didn't change the tech much in the Brabus 820 Porsche 911 Turbo S, so it won't be a learning curve if you're familiar with Porsches. Inside, you get Porsche's communication management (PCM) display, the central control unit for all audio, communication, navigation, and standard vehicle functions. It incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which, in today's age, are a priority in any car. The seats are, of course, heated and cooled, and there's automatic climate control to maintain the desired cabin temperature. In the driver and safety features assist suites, expect the essentials plus extras such as Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Active Safe (PAS), electronic stability control, launch control, traction control, and more.
Brabus offers a commissioning service for the Brabus 820 Porsche 911 Turbo S, meaning it's not an exclusive or limited production model, unlike some cars they offer in their lineup. If you were to buy one today, expect to spend anywhere north of $414,000, roughly $150,000 more than a fully specced out 992 911 Turbo S. If you'd prefer the latter, check out our Porsche listings, which have several 911 Turbo S units for sale.
The Brabus 820 Porsche 911 Turbo S demonstrates Brabus's expertise in turning powerful cars into something even more extraordinary. With impressive power gains, assertive styling, and meticulous interior details, it's unlike any other Porsche you could get your hands on unless Brabus has gotten their hands on it.
