Overview of 1999 Porsche Boxster For Sale by Owner

The Porsche Boxster has been around since 1996, and represents the entry point into Porsche ownership. During its long history, the Stuttgart sports car maker has had various entry-level models to ease ownership into the brand, given that its signature 911 model enjoys a certain position that can’t be compromised. Since inception, the Boxster has been an open-topped, mid-engined roadster, with its fixed-head companion, the Cayman following in late 2005. Today, we’ve got a veritable time capsule and definite future classic for you, with this 1999 Porsche Boxster from Knoxville, Tennessee. The car has traveled only over 16,000 miles so far and is thus definitely a unicorn waiting for its new owner. Is that you, then?

Exterior and Interior

This lovely Midnight Blue 1999 Porsche Boxster is a car that you’ll definitely want to drive as often as possible, thanks to its eye-catching style, signature Porsche crests, and of course, diminutive dimensions. It’s a superbly easy thing to place in town, park in tight spaces, and of course, thread down your favorite back road on a spirited drive. We’re told that the car’s convertible top has been replaced as well in 2023. Naturally, its power operated. The interior of the Boxster is strictly for two adults, unlike the larger 911 with its 2+2 layout. This particular example enjoys black leather seat upholstery which has reportedly been renewed, and the seats are power adjustable. There’s also an aftermarket audio player from Alpine with Bluetooth, automatic climate control with air conditioning, power windows, power door locks and power mirrors. Meanwhile, the driver gets a very clear and concise analog gauge cluster with a three-dial layout. There’s also a modest amount of trunk space for some cargo.

Engine

Behind the passenger compartment of this 1999 Porsche Boxster lurks a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 6-cylinder engine that’s good for 201 horsepower. A 5-speed manual transmission sends drive to the rear wheels in true sports car fashion. Power-assisted rack and pinion steering is standard, as are four-wheel disc brakes with ABS. The car also uses front and rear MacPherson strut independent suspension, ensuring superb handling and delicate driving balance that can be fully exploited by keen drivers.

The most popular modern open-topped Porsche for those who want to check out the brand’s sporting credentials, the Boxster was conceived in the early 2000s. Porsche had entry-level models from time to time, designed to attract younger buyers who couldn’t afford a 911 just yet. This strategy of getting them into the family was genius; it afforded such people a taste of the Porsche experience, basically ensuring that they’d graduate into a 911, or in later years, a Panamera, Macan, Cayenne, etc when they were ready for an upgrade. Today’s 2012 Porsche Boxster is a fine example for anyone who wants an older Boxster. It’s a lovely second-generation example from San Antonio, with just 37,250 miles on the clock. Plus, it has a sports exhaust, sport bucket seats, 19-inch wheels and more. Two keys are included with the sale of this car.

Porsche’s Boxster has become one of the German sports car maker’s most popular models. Slotting in beneath the iconic 911, the Boxster was introduced in 1996. The aim was for Porsche to offer a more affordable entry point, broadening the reach of their products and setting up customers to graduate to a 911 at a later point. And boy, did the strategy work. Now in the fourth generation, the Boxster and its Cayman fixed-roof sibling have sold like hot cakes. Sadly, Porsche is set to discontinue these two very soon, but we hope that they’ll follow up with an equally great hit. In the meantime, you can own a Boxster if you like, because we have this third-generation 2014 Porsche Boxster for sale right now. With just under 52,000 miles, this Wilmington-based car comes with the owner’s manual and two keys too.

The Porsche Boxster was created in 1996, as the entry point to Porsche ownership. Porsche has always offered a car that sits below the 911 in terms of hierarchy, performance and price point. This opens up the brand to a wider audience, making its cars more accessible, and strengthening the chance of them upgrading to a 911 or one of the brands larger models nowadays. It’s a smart strategy that’s worked well for them. If you want to enter the Porsche experience but don’t want to commit to a brand-new car, check out this 1998 Porsche Boxster from Macon, Georgia. It’s a definitive future classic and despite having over 113,000 miles on it, appears to have been well cared for. Continue to treat it nicely, and it’ll show you a good time on every drive.

1972 Porsche 911 T

$89,999

The 1972 Porsche 911 T Coupe represents one of the most unique and collectible variants of the long-hood 911 lineage. As part of Porsche’s F-Series generation, the 911 T combined lightweight driving dynamics with the company’s proven air-cooled flat-six formula. The 1972 model year is especially significant because it was the only year Porsche fitted the now-famous external oil filler door, known by enthusiasts as the “Ölklappe.” Designed to improve weight distribution by relocating the oil tank ahead of the rear axle, this feature has become one of the most recognizable identifiers of a genuine 1972 911. This example is finished in attractive Albert Blue over a tan interior and shows approximately 76,346 miles.
