Stock, the Chevrolet Tahoe’s 6.2-litre V8 makes 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, which are decent numbers for an SUV. The Hennessey Chevrolet Tahoe has the H650 upgrade kit, which includes a 3.0-liter supercharger plus a high-flow intercooler system, strengthened pushrods and a stainless steel cat-back exhaust, among other supporting mods. As a result, the engine makes 650 horsepower and 658 lb-ft of torque, a 55% increase in power, sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. Consequently, the 0-60 mph time improves to roughly 5.3 seconds, and the top speed maxes out at 125 mph, give or take, similar to the Standard Tahoe.
Hennessey Performance is not big on upgrading cabin layouts or designs, so the inside of the H650 Chevy Tahoe looks a lot like the Chevy Tahoe. It has minor interior touches, such as custom floor mats embroidered with the Hennessey logo and a few Hennessy badges here and there, but that’s it. Still, Hennessey allows custom orders where you can ask for specific upgrades to the SUV. To get a sense of what you should expect if you’ve never been in one, the Tahoe has three rows with ample leg and headspace and comfortable leather upholstery on the seats for up to seven passengers.
As the name suggests, Hennessey Performance focuses its attention on the vehicle's powertrain and drivetrain. However, it would be odd if they didn't have their identity on the car's exterior to communicate that. On models with upgrades, such as the H650, you will find Hennessey badges on the car's front, side, and rear. Another tell-tale sign that a Chevy Tahoe has the H650 upgrade is the “supercharged badges”, which you’ll definitely not see on a standard Tahoe. You can also get complimentary Brembo brakes and sportier wheels to complement the upgrade and enhance the car’s visual appeal, giving it a more fitting aesthetic.
For the most part, GM tech remains untouched in the H650 upgrade, especially for the infotainment. But that doesn’t mean it's inadequate or underwhelming. Even without the upgrade, the Chevy is still a full-size SUV, meaning it's designed for comfort and luxury when on those long drives. In your upgraded model, you’ll still enjoy the 10-inch infotainment system featuring various features such as navigation, CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity. All these are meant to provide you with a comfortable and luxurious ride.
The H650 is a $27,950 upgrade. Most people contact Hennessy with a stock Chevrolet Tahoe to do a performance upgrade or order a fully upgraded model from them. Therefore, if you already have the Chevy, the upgrade will cost you about $28,000, but if you want a new one, it will cost you the starting MSRP of the model plus the upgrade cost.
