You probably wouldn't think of buying a Humvee for your daily runs or as a grocery-getter. You look for a Humvee when you have a tough job at hand, whether it is military needs, off-roading, or as a cargo carrier. During wars that broke out since the model's deployment in the ‘80s, the Humvee has largely supplanted the roles previously performed by the original Jeep. For use in specific roles throughout the war, it was created in a variety of sizes and different features. What we have here is a 1985 American General Humvee with an enclosed cargo area, which is fitted with a table rack on each side. According to the current owner of this Humvee, it only has less than 357 original miles on its clock, and it is currently located in Plant City, Florida.
Exterior and Interior
Our subject, a 1985 American General Humvee, is repainted in black. Indeed, its color enhances its aggressive look. This Humvee rolls on a set of Goodyear Wrangler MT tires that were specifically designed for military use. These are backed by hydraulic disc brakes that offer optimal stopping power to this big vehicle. Meanwhile, the independent coil spring suspension offers stability and improved handling. The body-colored hard top provides a seamless look to the exterior while maximizing the space inside. The interior of the vehicle is customized with wooden trim and storage areas. Overhead fans are fitted over the passenger seat and the driver seat. Between the passenger seats are custom-made wooden storage boxes. One of the racks at the back carries three screens. The driver is presented with a three-spoke steering wheel and five dials amid various warning stickers.
Engine
This behemoth is powered by a 6.2 L Detroit Diesel V8 engine that sends power to the wheels via a three-speed automatic. According to AM General, this powerhouse is capable of speeds in excess of 70-85mph. In addition, the current owner reports a new starter that should offer a smooth and reliable start each time.
