Overview of 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500 For Sale by Owner

A Mercedes-Benz SL is not made for the average person who only wants a means of transport. Only certain types of people fit the status of this car. A person worthy of this type of car, which is becoming a rare classic, looks forward to a sunny weekend to fold the roof down and drive through twisty roads. They enjoy the spirited rumble that comes from a powerful engine. They aren’t afraid to use the car as a daily driver as they know these machines are meant to be driven, not babied. Or even if you are someone captivated by its charming beauty, we are here to provide you with everything you need to know before purchasing it. This stunning 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500 came to our inventory from Greenwich, Connecticut, with just 20,382 miles on its odometer. Its owner is ready to hand it over to the next lucky buyer with its original owner's manual and two sets of keys.

Exterior and Interior

Designed on the floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124, the 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500 was offered as a two-door roadster with many innovative details for the time. The sleek and skillful exterior design of this car looks fantastic with silver paint on top, as evidenced by our subject car. It is topped with an automated fabric convertible roof, and the manually detachable hardtop that could be fitted over the stored fabric convertible roof is available with the sale. The large three-pointed star dominated the front grille and the decklid. The slots behind the front wheels give a subtle sporty air to the classy exterior. Pirelli P-Zero tires are wrapped around silver wheels, which makes the side profile look well put together. The interior of this SL500 is light gray and features a wood accent on the center console. Its owner states that it still retains its original cassette player.

Engine

Mercedes gave their 1999 SL500 a 5.0L V8 engine that is married to a 5-speed automatic gearbox. They claim that this powerhouse is capable of generating 225 kW (302 hp; 306 PS) and 460 Nm (339 ft-lb) of torque. This car can also reach up to 155 mph.
