Overview of 2005 Jaguar XKR Convertible For Sale by Owner

The successor of Jaguar’s iconic XJS grand tourer, the XK was introduced in 1996. It ran until 2014, across two generations, before the F-Type took over. The XK also spawned a high-performance, supercharged variant called the XKR. With Jaguar’s recent rebranding and new direction causing quite a bit of controversy, why not celebrate what the brand used to be, rather than taking up arms at what it might be? This 2005 Jaguar XKR Roadster is a great way to celebrate, with its drop-top and supercharged V8 waiting for you to enjoy. The car packs just 118,064 miles, and has been recently serviced too.

Exterior and Interior

The menacing black paint job worn by this 2005 Jaguar XKR Roadster, replete with its black, power-operated convertible top makes for a sure-fire stunner, wherever you drive it. The car may be approaching twenty years old, but it still looks fresh and relevant, aided by its silver, multi-spoke alloy wheels, quad exhaust tips, and of course, the iconic Jaguar badge of yore. Venturing aboard, we find a classic Jaguar cabin, with a prominently wood-trimmed dashboard and leather-upholstered seats. A set of lovely analog dials face the driver, framed behind a steering wheel that’s only got a few buttons for audio and cruise control functions. Meanwhile, the center stack contains the controls for the climate control system, plus the Jaguar-branded radio cassette player. There’s an Alpine speaker system too. You’ve also got a trip computer, and Jaguar’s signature J-gate automatic transmission which was common in the Nineties and Two Thousands. Popping the trunk reveals a spacious load area, plus a CD changer too.

Engine

This 2005 Jaguar XKR Roadster gets its go-factor from a 4.2-liter supercharged V8 that snarls its way towards delivering a reported 400hp and 553lb-ft of torque from the factory. The power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. The top speed is capped at 155mph, while the car can deliver a 0-60 time of less than 6 seconds. Remember that this is a heavy grand tourer, not a lightweight sports car. That said, it’s mid-range urge and overtaking prowess will leave you in awe. The car also has adaptive suspension, for a smoother ride, yet it can handle surprisingly well when pushed.

The Jaguar XK of the Nineties and Two Thousands is an often overlooked grand tourer. Available with punchy V8 power, the first or XK100 generation was made between 1996 and 2006. It brought cool British styling and sports car DNA to a modernized platform and sleek looks that aged gracefully. Today, you can avail yourself of all that with this 2006 Jaguar XKR from Queen Creek, Arizona. It’s got two keys, up-to-date servicing and a fetching set of BBS Montreal wheels.
