It’s a full roller, with a 496ci engine under the hood, with custom suspension, paint and wheels. This Chevelle resto-mod is a great example of a classic American muscle car reimagined while staying true to the original.
The standout feature on the 1968 Chevelle SS is the custom paintwork. Having undergone a full frame-off restoration, this Chevrolet sports a custom blue-on-blue flame paintjob. The attention to detail extends under the hood, with chromed parts, a cleared firewall and a shaved engine bay making way for a visually appealing set-up that wouldn’t look out of place at a car show. This Chevy sits on coil over suspension for improved handling. It also sports custom wheels, which clear enormous 6-piston disc brakes from big-brake-kit specialists Wilwood.
Under the hood of this second-generation Chevelle is Chevrolets 496ci V8 engine that has been upgraded to run Edlebrock fuel injection. Improving reliability is a one-belt serpentine belt system replacing the original V-belt. Other upgrades include oil catch cans, an electric water pump, and an AL7 ignition. Power is delivered through an automatic gearbox, with this Chevy utilizing a 9” rear end.
