Exterior and Interior
A true portrayal of British Aristocracy is the Rolls-Royce cars. This 1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud is bedecked in a gorgeous white color. The body is constructed using a steel body shell with a lightweight aluminum-based alloy for the doors. The front features a massive vertical grille in silver with the “RR” logo on the top and is surmounted by the iconic “Spirit of Ecstasy” bonnet ornament in silver as well. Flanking the grille are stand-alone headlights which have a tiny “RR” logo in metal. The chrome front bumper is host to the fog lights. The rear features the “GB” lettering on the trunk door. The chrome rear bumper is host to the “RR” logo as well. The wheels of this car are a work of art in itself, they are done in chrome with a red pinstripe inside a white circle. The “RR” letterings are etched on the hubcaps as well. A light blue along with wood grace the interior. A modern AM/FM radio from Blaupunkt has been installed and is hidden behind a latch. The 3-spoke “RR” badged slim steering wheel is done in black with the transmission selector is on the steering column. It comes with the factory steering wheel, which was an option. An aftermarket A/C unit has been installed while the original will be given with the sale.
Engine
The 1958 Silver Cloud was available with only the 300ci (4.9L) inline-six engine while mated to a 4-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission sourced from GM. The seller reports the generator has been upgraded, new spark plugs replaced, and a recent tune-up and maintenance were performed. The Silver Cloud was able to achieve a top speed of 102.9 mph in supreme luxury when new, which was blinding speed for the Fifties.
