Did you know that the Porsche 928 is reportedly Porsche's first fully in-house design for a production vehicle? Interestingly, this model was first developed as a potential replacement for the Porsche 911 as the company's flagship model. The 928 was different from the 911 as it blended the performance and handling characteristics of a sports car while also offering the comfort, spaciousness, and ride quality of a luxury car. It was even described as a “Super Car” during the 1980s and this model saw 18 years of production starting from 1977. What found its way to our inventory here is a fine example of the 1988 Porsche 928 S4 with 136,004 miles on its clock. We are told that the recent receipts of this car show $27K+ suggesting that it has received a considerable amount of love.
The timeless look of this 1988 Porsche 928 S4 is further enhanced with a stunning Guards Red exterior. Its headlights neatly fold backward, giving a streamlined profile without being completely encased like normal pop-up headlights. This Porsche rides on 16" alloy wheels decorated with chrome Porsche hub caps. Wrapped around them are new Riken Raptor ZR A/S tires. Stopping power is taken care of by front and rear ventilated disc brakes and you also get a new ABS system as well. Our subject Porsche 928 features a rear "Weissach" multi-link suspension, which is a complex suspension system derived from motorsports. The front consists of a double wishbone suspension. Entering this 1988 Porsche 928 is like stepping into a time capsule as the Linen Grey color interior exudes design elements from yesteryear. The retro steering wheel features power-assisted rack & pinion steering. The center console slopes downwards and holds buttons, knobs, and sliding levers for your radio and A/C controls. It also includes a Continental retro Bluetooth stereo.
The current owner reports that over the past 24 months, the following have been replaced: transmission mounts, engine mounts, gas tank sending unit, timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, thermostat, camshaft gears, crankshaft gear, oil pump gears, vibration damper, oil pan gasket, intake manifold, knock sensors, brake calipers, rotors, ABS brake unit, valve covers, all drive belts, fuel lines, air tubes, air filters, spark plugs and wires, and distributor cap and rotor. The transaxle was completely rebuilt just prior to the current owners acquisition at the cost of $7k. Powered by a 5.0-liter DOHC V8 paired with a four-speed rear mounted automatic transaxle, the car is equipped with 16″ forged aluminum chromed wheels with new tires, a sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, a Retrosound bluetooth stereo, and front and rear air conditioning. This 928 S4 shows 136,004 miles and is offered with a Porsche Production Specifications sheet, extensive service records, owners manual, complete tool set, spare tire and a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name. All accessories, electronics and gauges function as designed and the car drives and shifts like it did fresh from the factory. Furthermore, all panels have the correct original matching VIN sticker. Porsche’s 911 may be the German automaker’s signature product, but it was far from their sole one. Over the years, Porsche dabbled (and continues to dabble) in other models too. The 928 was one of these. Produced between 1977 and 1995, it was a front-engined V8 grand tourer. The 928 received the European Car Of The Year award in 1978, and was highly praised by the automotive press at the time. That’s why you shouldn’t miss out on getting your hands on this 1986 Porsche 928 S, with just 76,500 miles under its belt. It’s an excellent modern classic to own and drive.
The 80s was a time for innovation and breaking away from age-old tech into a digital world, and cars like the Porsche 928 were a symbol of this well-needed change. Built to stun, the Porsche 928 was always overshadowed by its legendary cousin, the Porsche 911; fast forward to today, however, and the legendary Porsche 928 gets its well-deserved praise and is becoming a collectors must-have. Present today is this lovely 1986 Porsche 928S Coupe. It's a rare beast as it is a factory-clean example that just has a reported 103,250 miles on the clock. Looking for a machine to take on the weekend and serve as a savvy investment? Look no further!
An iconic design, convertible top down and a sunset drive - sounds like a dream? Well we have what it takes to make all that a reality. Present today is this lovely 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, it's a true blast from the past and has a reported 105,165 miles on the clock making it a survivor that's in excellent shape and the perfect way to experience sports car ownership without breaking the bank.
Few sports cars have had such an impact on the world as the Porsche 911. When it was showcased in 1964, the public were highly interested in this distinctive teardrop-shaped automobile. Then, they learned of its powertrain; an air-cooled flat-six mounted in the car’s tail, and of course, driving the rear wheels. This was quite a departure from traditional front-engined layouts. In fact, Porsche 911 development had started way earlier, in 1959, and it was envisioned to take over from the company’s 356 model. However, such was the 911’s impact that it created its own legacy, and one that continues to this day. Over the years, the 911 gained more creature comforts, convertible variants, and fearsome turbocharged engine options. The car’s exterior design saw modernization, but the overall teardrop shape remained. However, the engines remained air cooled until 1998, when tightening emissions regulations and demands for more power dictated that water cooling was the way to go. Thus, a sort of line was drawn; if you want a proper classic 911, go for pre-1998 cars. If you want more modern examples, post-1998 is where you should seek them out. Therefore, this South Carolina-based 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet is definitely a classic. However, it should be enjoyed rather than mothballed, and its current mileage of 80,948 tells you that it’s meant for the open road rather than stowed away in climate-controlled garages.
The Porsche 911 started out in 1964 with an air-cooled engine and a fun-to-drive demeanor. Then, turbo models and special editions came, and Porsche had created a legacy. Over the past many decades, the 911 has grown, evolved and become more sporty and luxurious. Its engine switched to water cooling in 1998, but has always remained in the tail of the car, slung out behind the rear axle. This makes for some entertaining handling characteristics for keen drivers to exploit. Today, we’ve got a 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S from the 997 generation up for sale with just 63,500 miles on the clock. The 997 generation was made between 2004 and 2013, and is considered to be an excellent place to start if you’re searching for your first 911 but don’t want to buy brand-new. This Phoenix-located car also comes with all servicing up to date.
