Overview of 1992 AM General M35A3 For Sale by Owner

Am General is perhaps best known for giving us the Humvee, that American stalwart of the silver screen, as well as the news whenever our forces are seen abroad. Humvees have, and continue to revolutionize mobility within all branches of the military. They are immensely adaptable, utterly versatile, and can be turned into just about anything. But AM General also makes heavier-duty things. Things like this 1992 AM General M353A, which is basically a two and a half ton truck. Now up for sale from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, this veteran could be yours if you desire. As for what you decide to do with it, well, that’s up to you. After all, what can’t you do with a massive six-wheeled, six-wheel-drive truck?

Exterior and Interior

This 1992 AM General M353A comes painted in Army Green, a very fitting color for a machine that’s served our forces with pride. Its got six massive wheels and tires, and all these are powered! Yes, it’s a true 6x6 with full-time all-wheel drive. Thanks to front and rear beam axles plus a leaf spring suspension system, this truck is pretty capable of carrying some heavy loads across tough terrain. Oh, and thanks to the CTIS or Central Tire Inflation System, you can easily air down those massive tires for low-traction, loose surfaces such as sand, then air them back up for driving on harder and smoother stuff. The interior of this 1992 AM General M353A features a green theme, with a rudimentary dashboard, plenty of gauges and an overall no-nonsense theme. The cargo area currently has some facing benches installed, but you can customize it as you wish. That’s entirely up to you to decide.

Engine

Moving this 1992 AM General M353A across hills and dales is a Caterpillar 3116 6.6-liter turbodiesel six. It’s got mechanical direct injection and is paired with an Allison 1545 4-speed automatic gearbox. You’ve got permanent all-wheel drive to all six wheels, as well as a two-speed high/low transfer case. There’s also power steering, a 24-volt electrical system and a massive 50-gallon fuel tank for impressive range between fill-ups.
