The only pony car still standing in 2025, Ford’s Mustang started the segment, and looks set to continue it as far as possible. All challengers have fallen by the wayside, but the Mustang soldiers on, now in its seventh generation and continuing to forge a gas-V8-powered path. Today, we’ve got a rather nice fourth-generation example that’s a bit more special than your usual fourth-gen ‘Stang. Say hello to this 1994 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible Indy 500 Pace Car. A limited run of 1,000 cars was made to celebrate the Mustang’s 30th Anniversary, and this was the third time that a Mustang served as the Indy 500 Pace Car. So, it’s pretty special as you might imagine, and even more so with only 22,000 miles on the clock.
Exterior and Interior
Wearing a bright Rio Red coat, this 1994 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible Indy 500 Pace Car is a convertible and sports a vinyl top in Saddle. It currently rides on a set of dark bronze alloy wheels, which give it an even more distinctive appearance. The car also comes with its stock rims and tires included with the sale, which is great for purists. This car also features a Shelby Ram Air hood and comes with the Indy Pace Car decals installed on the doors. These were offered in the trunk, and owners could decide whether to fit them or not. We say, why not fit them? After all, what’s the point of buying a limited edition car if you don’t enjoy its limited-edition features? This 1994 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Convertible Indy 500 Pace Car is powered by a 302ci small block 5.0-liter V8 that was reportedly rated for 240 horsepower. However, it’s suspected that Ford was coy about the actual power rating and under-rated it in brochures as a result. The car uses a 5-speed manual gearbox to drive the rear wheels, and also enjoys a LoudMouth exhaust system.
