Overview of 1995 AM General Hummer M998 For Sale by Owner

While AM General has countless cars to back up its contribution to the automotive industry, nothing speaks volumes like their military-oriented Humvees and, subsequently, the Hummers. With the success of the Humvee and its popularization in movies, books, and other media, the public took an interest in it, and AM General responded to that demand by building the Hummer H1 in 1992. The Hummer H1 was produced until 2004, and 2006 when the Hummer H2 then succeeded it. Up for grabs is a tricked-out 1995 AM General Humvee M998 with a slew of upgrades and a mileage of 33296 miles on the odometer.

Exterior and Interior

The Hummer is a massive and intimidating vehicle that hogs the regular roads it traverses on. This particular 1995 AM General Hummer M998 sports a custom matte black finish. The front fascia hosts a custom-made American flag with a Punisher logo design. The black soft top is reported to be in good condition, as per the owner. The side mirrors are stock military units. The Humvee comes equipped with Halogen headlights, a 2" front leveling kit, new running and clearance lights, a new reinforced receiver hatch, a new adaptive trailer plug from military to seven-prong civilian 24v to 12v, extended snorkel air breather, tow bar connection, and a new canvas-enclosure cover. The seller reports that a metallic gray anti-rust spray has been applied to the bedliner and extends to the interior. Grey is the theme for the interior and features electric windows, electric locks, a large monitor screen, a new Bluetooth sound system with a built-in amplifier, and rear Pioneer speakers; the ignition switch has been converted from the standard military to the keyed ignition with an automatic electric key fob, front and rear leather wrapped captain chairs with headrests, armrests, and seatbelts are in place. A set of 24" deep dish Moto Metal wheels in gloss black grace the truck while a complete undercoating keeps it safe.

Engine

This 1995 AM General M998 Humvee is powered by a 6.5L diesel engine coupled with an automatic transmission. The seller reports a new high-flow water pump, new glow plugs, a new high-performance fuel pump, a new military-grade alternator generator, and a second dual fan for extra cooling for the radiator. The seller reports the new radiator with an overflow tank has been recently flushed and serviced.

The Humvee is the most popular American military vehicle in the world. Wherever we have a military presence, you can find Humvees doing duty transporting troops and hardware around. Whether it’s for peaceful base patrol or in the heat of an active war zone, the Humvee can tackle it with ease. Once Humvees retire from active duty, many of them end up for purchase on the civilian market. This 1992 AM General Humvee is one such example. It’s got 104,000 miles on the clock and is available in San Benito, Texas. With its 6.5-liter V8, automatic gearbox and Camo Green outlook, this historic machine is perfect for a collector.

The first Hummer, the H1 was a gargantuan beast released in 1992. It was the result of AM General’s desire to produce a civilian variant of their tough military Humvee, spurred on in no small part by a request from Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Terminator had encountered Humvees during his silver screen adventures and thought they would be a fine SUV for those who dared to think different. One does not simply refuse a request from The Terminator, and AM General saw the potential new market it could offer too. These days, finding an H1 isn’t hard, but it’s not a walk in the park either. Thankfully, we have this 96,579-mile 1995 AM General Hummer H1 for sale from Boston. The vehicle has a 350ci V8, an automatic gearbox, aftermarket wheels and all those cool things that the H1 is famous for.

What we know today as the Hummer stems from a battle-hardened military machine with deep roots in warfare utility. Often mistaken for its civilian offspring, the original military-spec Humvee and its civilian counterpart are distinct, yet inherently linked. The AM General Hummer, derived from the M998 Humvee, was built for rugged terrain and uncompromising performance. Weighing in at approximately 6,860 pounds, this formidable 4x4 came with two engine choices and boasted the ability to scale 18-inch vertical obstacles, handle 60% grade climbs, and traverse 40% side slopes. It’s no surprise that these machines are revered in the off-roading world. Customized examples like this 1998 AM General Hummer Wagon elevate the platform even further, equipped with the most potent factory engine option. Located in St. Marys, Georgia, this exceptional vehicle is trail-ready and waiting to become the centerpiece of your collection.
