Built tough, literally able to withstand a direct attack, the AM General Humvee is the backbone of our military’s operations at home and abroad. This light infantry vehicle has been around since 1985 in a variety of forms. The Humvee’s adaptability lends itself well towards uses such as a troop carrier, armament carrier, missile carrier, cargo vehicle, ground mobility vehicle, and more. And, when Humvees retire from active duty, they sometimes receive a makeover and enter civilian life. This 2011 AM General Humvee is no different. It started life as an up-armored troop and cargo carrier and has now retired from military service. With some enhancements, this 8,961-mile vehicle is now available in Miami, Florida.
Exterior and Interior
If you want an off-roader that comes with capability like no other, this 2011 AM General Humvee is the golden ticket you’ve been waiting for. Its tough black exterior comes with features such as a new 5/8 glass Level B ballistic windshield, which is great if you’ve got to traverse some less-than-ideal areas of the town on a regular basis. The doors are also armored with 5/8 glass, and there’s a BadBoy air horn on board to announce your presence. Of course, if the path ahead is less than smooth, the 37x12.50 Milestar Patagonia M/T tires on 20-inch Fuel wheels will make light work of it. You’ve also got a 2-inch drop hitch receiver for towing, as well as a 13K winch with a custom mounting plate for recovery assistance. There’s also a NOS mudflap kit in place. The interior of this 2011 AM General Humvee retains its military outlook, but the seats are now upholstered in comfortable leather, and there are some comfort features such as cup holders and a rear-view camera in place. As for cargo, there’s a pickup truck-style bed out back, which is exposed but you could fit a aftermarket cover if you want weatherproofing and security. Then again, no-one will want to steal from a Humvee owner.
Engine
Powering all this might and protection is a stout 6.5-liter turbodiesel powerplant. Hence, this 2011 AM General Humvee can move in a suitably decent fashion, aided by its 4L80 automatic transmission and four-wheel drive system. However, even if you’re slow, no one will dare honk at you.
