Formerly called the Mercedes-Benz ML-Class, the GLE represents the midsize sport utility offering from Mercedes-Benz, and has done so since 1997. Then, it was called the ML-Class and rode on a traditional, body on frame configuration. However, since 2005 and the second generation, a unibody construction was adopted, and the M-Class became more road-oriented. The GLE name came in 2015 when the third generation was facelifted, and basically alludes to the model being the SUV equivalent of an E-Class. Today, what we have is a fourth-generation example from the house of Mercedes-AMG. This 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLE53 has traveled just over 27,000 miles and comes with a twin-turbo straight six under the hood. It’s also got 4MATIC all-wheel drive and the usual Mercedes-Benz refinements to enjoy, in its quest to be your next family vehicle. If you’d like to answer its call, let us know.
Exterior and Interior
This 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLE53 comes in a nice blue shade of paint and strikes a rather classy yet understated stance as it showcases its modern Mercedes-Benz design. Its wheels are a set of 22-inch multispoke units in silver, wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Yes, this SUV is clearly more road-oriented, but a simple change of shoes will give it some decent off-road chops. It’s also got LED headlamps, quad tailpipes and rear privacy glass. Inside, you’ll find a light tan interior with leather seats and dark wood trim. Both front seats are not only power-adjustable, but cooled and heated too. Multi-zone climate control is standard, as is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Whichever connectivity solution you use, you’ll also receive great sound courtesy of the Burmester speaker system. Then, you’ve got a digital gauge cluster, wired charging ports as well as a wireless phone charger, plenty of storage areas, a spacious trunk and even a sunroof for some light and air.
Engine
Since this is an AMG variant, you’ll find a twin-turbo engine powering this 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLE53. The 3.0-liter straight six is bolstered by the EQ-Boost mild hybrid system. It reportedly makes a system total of 429hp and 384lb-ft of torque . Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system is standard, as is a 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox. Active Body control is also included.
