Overview of 1966 Shelby 427 For Sale by Owner

When you see “Shelby” in a vehicle name you are guaranteed that you’ll be getting one of a line of iconic vehicles produced and endorsed by the legendary carmaker that carries Carroll Shelby’s name. The AC Shelby Cobra is world renowned model, its images are ubiquitous in every car aficionado’s bedroom and is featured on most lists of best cars. The AC in the AC Shelby Cobra stands for AC (Auto Carriers ltd) Cars – A British outfit. The AC Cobra is an interesting amalgamation of British design and engineering, inspired by American principles and packing a very American Ford V8 of up to 427ci (7.0L). Numerous replicas have been produced as a homage to this iconic car, and we have a 1966 Shelby AC Replica 427 SC (Semi-Competition) for sale. It’s been in its current family for a tad under thirty years and comes with just 7,995 miles on the odometer.

Exterior and Interior

This 1966 Shelby AC Replica 427 SC is faithfully painted in the iconic Classic Blue with white racing stripes. The car rests on a set of Halibrand aluminum 15” wheels with staggered front (225/60) and rear (255/60) tires, which are in good condition. The car has the well-known side exhausts too. As per the original Shelby AC Cobra this car also features a round tube frame. The interior is adorned in black leather. The car has been constantly kept in a garage and covered. The car cover is included on request, but the top is not included with the sale. The interior is done with a black theme, where the driver and passenger sit on black leather seats. The driver grips a thin, wood-rimmed steering wheel whilst several chrome gauges are on hand to provide critical information. It’s all analog here.

Engine

The Ford 427 FE engine under the hood of this 1966 Shelby AC Replica combined with a single 4-barrel Holley carburetor puts out 485hp and 480 lb ft of torque, enough to give a top speed of 185 mph. Additional upgrades include a new fuel vent pipe installed in the fuel system, a Mustang II steering rack and pinion, disc brakes on all four wheels, and dual coil over suspension in the rear, with coil overs in the front as well. A recent maintenance regime was conducted, including a newly fitted clutch slave cylinder.
