The iconic Land Rover Defender was initially introduced in 1983, is a staple in many commonwealth country’s militaries, police, special forces, and VIP motorcades, to name but a few. The Defender nametag replaced the revered post-World War II-produced Land Rover Series. While common in many parts of the world, it’s somewhat of a rarity in the US. The original Defender ended production in 2016, after an illustrious production run of 33 years. Our subject specimen is a 1986 Land Rover Defender 110, with a complete restoration and has been upgraded in many ways, making it a must-have vehicle in anyone’s arsenal.
Recolored in a Satin Grey exterior color, the interior features two-toned, custom-made, and diamond-stitched leather seats to complement the exterior. This off-roader rides on a set of striking NICHE Staccato wheels wrapped in Nitto AT Terra Grappler rubber. Other exterior visual upgrades include a Kahn grill, Kahn bumper lights, Kahn fender inserts, Kahn hood inserts, plus a roof rack and ladder to keep all your camping gear in place and easily accessible. A nut and bolt restoration has been performed in April 2020. A 7-PIN trailer light kit is installed too. Also included are functioning power windows, as well as central locking. A suede headliner is in place with a diamond-stitched strip. Four custom leather-wrapped jump seats for extra passengers are installed too.
The original ’86 Land Rover Defender was available in various motor options ranging from 2.25L to 3.5L and with four different transmission types. This Defender has been fitted with a reliable American-made new GM motor with a new transmission and a unique electric card style gear shifter. The electric wiring system has been updated, and a new Yellow Top battery is installed. The PCS Powertrain Control has been completely serviced. A custom fuel system has been installed comprising of a 21-gallon powder coated tank, fuel lines, breather filter, tank breather, and a pressure regulator. Complementing the custom build is a custom exhaust pipe.
If you want a sturdy and capable off-roader for your weekend sojourns, it’s hard to bash a classic Land Rover Defender. With a rich history dating back to 1948, the Land Rover Defender (the old one, since there’s a new one now) is well regarded for its off-road abilities and simplistic demeanor. Yes, you might hear some Land Rover jokes, mostly centering around oil leakages, but in reality, these are the hallmarks of poorly maintained and ill-used examples. Choose a well-cared for Defender, such as this Maine-based 1992 Land Rover Defender 110 and you’ll enjoy plenty of happy journeys in it. This vehicle has undergone a frame-off repaint, received plenty of new parts, and even has a more modern and punchy engine under the hood. We’re also informed that all servicing is up to date.

Land Rover’s iconic Defender was discontinued in 2016, but before the public could get disgruntled and start throwing things, Land Rover quickly announced that a new Defender was in the works. One of the most iconic four-by-fours to come from Britain, the Land Rover Defender nameplate enjoys a long and glorious history dating way back to 1948, when Land Rover’s Series was released. The vehicle’s iconic shape and styling elements continued largely unchanged, save for some updates and refreshes here and there, all the way until 2016. Beneath the skin, however, massive changes took place. That’s why today’s restored 1991 Land Rover Defender 110 is very different to its older brethren. This vehicle was imported from the United Kingdom and is a right-hand drive variant as a result. A full frame-off restoration is reported to have been carried out by Lucra Motors, and the engine has got less than 1,000 miles on it.
