Overview of 1932 Ford Model A Roadster Hot Rod For Sale by Owner

Think hot rod, and chances are you’ll come up with something based on a Ford Model A. The Model A, following on from the nomenclature set by the fabled Model T, is a prime candidate for custom builds, just like our featured 1932 Ford Model A Roadster Hot Rod. This car has reportedly been subject to a detailed restoration: a Stage 3 chassis-based build that combines traditional styling with modern engineering. It’s now been fitted with a Chevrolet 350ci V8 coupled to a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission.

Exterior and Interior

This 1932 Ford Model A Roadster Hot Rod is reportedly built off of a 1929 Ford Highboy Stage 3 chassis. From there, it has been finished in bright red with a 2-inch chopped windshield and roofline. Custom touches include louvered side panels, a Bop Top black convertible roof, chrome spreader bars, and a Walker Cobra radiator. The presentation is further elevated by billet and stainless steel hardware throughout, while the aftermarket grille and exhaust system contribute to its bespoke character. Inside, the black cabin features a Roadster glide seat, a custom Lecarra steering wheel mounted on a Billet Specialties column, and SO-CAL Speed Shop custom gauges, blending vintage inspiration with modern craftsmanship.

Engine

Although based on a Ford, that hotrod features GM firepower under the hood. It’s fitted with a Chevrolet 350ci V8 paired with a previously rebuilt Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission and a high-speed stall converter. Power is channeled to the rear wheels through a Halibrand quick-change rear end and a Ford 9-inch differential. The chassis is a 1929 Highboy Stage 3 build with front and rear C-notch rails, Heidts independent suspension systems, SO-CAL Speed Shop stainless steel shocks, and chrome spindles, delivering both agility and comfort. With disc brakes up front and drums in the rear, allowing for improved stopping power too.
