A small company initially established in Indiana back in 1902 was first creating battery-powered automobiles based on horse carriages. This company, founded by the Studebaker brothers, is responsible for this stunning 1952 Studebaker Champion Regal Starliner Coupe available in our inventory. Of course, its design is not based on a horse carriage, and it is certainly powered by a gasoline engine. Introduced in 1939, the Studebaker Champion was the little sibling of the companies top-of the- line Studebaker Commander model. Belonging to the 1952 model year, this Studebaker Champion Regal Starliner presented here proudly belongs to the third generation of their lineup. In all its original glory, a fantastic amount of work has gone into making this California-based car look and run as good as it does here. It’s ready to turn heads for the next lucky owner – will that be you?
The third generation Studebaker Champion received a complete makeover featuring a new rear window and flat front fenders. The Burgundy paint of our subject 1952 Studebaker Champion Regal Starliner Coupe goes stunningly with the white top and chrome additions all around the car. The hood of the car displays the Studebaker Champion lettering and the Studebaker emblem while the boot lid of the car features Studebaker lettering. It sits on dazzling chrome wheels that are wrapped in Federal Super Steel 657 tires. The gray interior of this 1952 Studebaker Champion Regal Starliner Coupe looks like it’s right out of the factory and presents a large three-spoke steering wheel in Burgundy. Gray and white bench seats provides ample space for four passengers and feature Burgundy trimming.
As per the owner, most upgrades have been placed upon the 169.9ci in-line six cylinder engine powering this 1952 Studebaker Champion Regal Starliner Coupe, which drives the rear wheels via T96 transmission with overdrive unit that’s been totally rebuilt. The shift linkage issue that crops up with this transmission due to age has been fixed too. The engine retains the stock cam, but now has an 8.5:1 compression ratio, Weber 2-barrel carburetor, and rebuilt oil pump. The motor enjoys new pistons, rings, valves, bearings, timing gear, a modern crank seal bored 0.060 over, newly ported intake, and exhaust. The rear axle has been rebuilt with 4:10 gears, and sports new bearings, seals, and gaskets for reliability in years to come. The front brakes have been upgraded to 11” by 2” self-energizing drums. Furthermore, the entire front of the engine compartment was rewired after a comprehensive cleaning revealed some issues. With this level of meticulousness, you can be assured that this 1952 Studebaker Champion Regal Starliner Coupe is ready to rumble.
