Background Story of this 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Overview of 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass For Sale by Owner

Available from 1961 until 1999, Oldsmobile’s Cutlass has got to be one of this iconic American brand’s longer-running nameplates. The name Cutlass is derived from a fighter jet of the late Forties, the Vought F7U Cutlass. The aircraft in turn was named after the nautical sword known as a cutlass. So, there’s a bit of nomenclature history for you, since it’s likely that you, your parents, and grandparents have encountered an Olds Cutlass at some point. Today’s 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass F85 Restomod is a second-generation example that’s received a few upgrades to make it nicer for regular driving duties. These include a reupholstered leather interior, air conditioning and an aftermarket stereo system. You also get the original owner’s manual with the sale of this Redmond-based American classic.

Exterior and Interior

Dual headlamps, chrome bumpers and a broad grille. That’s what greets you face-on when you meet this 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass F85 Restomod, in its resplendent White Pearl paint job. The vehicle rides on a set of aftermarket chrome mag wheels and rocks tinted glass for a cool look (as well as a literally cool interior on hot days). You’ve also got an automatic radio antenna and white-lettered tires. The Navy Blue interior of this 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass F85 Restomod is kept chilled by Vintage Air air conditioning which is great for summer drives. Then, you’ve got an aftermarket stereo system which is styled like an old-fashioned push-button radio but actually offers modern media connectivity. This look enables it to seamlessly blend in with the classic dashboard and interior styling of this car. We also see a sporty aftermarket steering wheel has been installed. Pop the trunk and it’s pretty clean, with a matching navy blue trunk mat in place as well.

Engine

This 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass F85 Restomod rocks a 330ci Rocket V8. The engine is fed via an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor. It’s also been fitted with an aftermarket distributor and auto correcting timing. A 2-speed Jetaway automatic transmission drives the rear wheels in a smooth yet powerful fashion. You’ve also got front disc and rear drum brakes for adequate stopping power.

1961 Chevrolet Impala Restomod LS1

VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE

The 1961 Chevrolet Impala is one of the most recognizable early-60s American coupes, known for its sweeping side trim, quad headlights, and jet-age design language. This example has been transformed into an LS-swapped restomod while retaining much of its original character inside and out. Finished in green with a white interior, the car features a recently installed LS1 V8 with approximately 94,601 miles on the engine. The firewall has been painted in candy apple red, highlighting the custom drivetrain installation, though the exterior paintwork remains unfinished and the seller has noted a quarter panel issue pending further documentation. 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$19,500

Arguably the most popular Mercedes-Benz model in the United States during the Seventies and Eighties, The R107 era of their SL-Class grand tourer saw over 204,000 units find homes. This was during an 18-year production run that spanned 1971 to 1989. Impressive as the figure may be for a luxury car, it’s even more admirable when you consider that just over 300,000 were made in total! In fact, more R107 SLs found homes Stateside than they did in Germany or anywhere else in the world. Today, there’s no shortage of fine examples, thanks to the car’s superb Mercedes-Benz build quality. Hence, this Texas-based 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is a rather sensible purchase to make, even if you have no idea about classic cars. With its 5.6-liter V8, 4-speed automatic gearbox and aftermarket Kenwood stereo unit, it’s a sound choice. Don’t worry about the 142,000 miles on the odometer, these cars are built to go the distance if maintained well.
