Overview of 1978 Chevrolet Corvette 25th Anniversary For Sale by Owner

When twenty-five years of the Corvette rolled around, the model was in the late stage of the C3, or third-generation variant. Instead of creating a limited-edition run, Chevy decided to make all 1978 'Vettes a celebratory one. Hence the presence of cars like this 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Silver Anniversary, which sports the special Silver Anniversary paint job as well. With just 49,500 miles on the clock, this 'Vette has got some tasty upgrades to boot.

Exterior and Interior

The special silver over gray paint job was the idea of GM's Bill Mitchell, who suggested it before he retired. Not all 78 'Vettes had it, as it was optional. That makes this 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Silver Anniversary all that more special. The current owner tells us that it rolls on a set of 17-inch American Racing alloy wheels, which give it a lovely period vibe. Other interesting features on the exterior of this car include its twin T-tops for a spot of open-air motoring and its pop-up headlamps. You'll also find the requisite badging to be in great condition. Inside, there's a cozy black cabin for two occupants on leather-trimmed seats. This 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Silver Anniversary has got air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. It's also got an aftermarket sound system in the trunk, replete with a subwoofer. This is controlled via a Kenwood Excelon head unit that supports CD, USB, and AUX connectivity, as well as FM radio. We must also mention the gauge cluster that looks in similarly great condition for its age.

Engine

This 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Silver Anniversary is powered by a 350ci L82 V8, but it's got a few upgrades to enjoy. We are told that it's been endowed with long tube headers, a dual exhaust, an Edelbrock Performer air intake and air cleaner, a Super Stock wires, and an ignition system. Drive goes to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. There's also power steering as well as power brakes.
