Overview of 1998 Toyota Supra For Sale by Owner

The 1998 Toyota Supra has become one of the defining Japanese performance cars of its era, and this example takes the platform far beyond its original specification with a comprehensively engineered high-horsepower build. Originally configured as a naturally aspirated automatic car, it now carries a built 3.0-liter 2JZ-GTE-based powertrain, a Precision Next Gen 8085 single turbo, Haltech engine management, and a Grannas Racing T56 Magnum-F 6-speed manual conversion. The car shows approximately 74,952 total miles, with the seller reporting roughly 1,500 miles on the current build. Output has been recorded at 1,208 wheel horsepower and 861 lb-ft on a Mainline hub dyno and 1,301 wheel horsepower and 930 lb-ft on a Dynojet, with a reported 1,535 horsepower and 1,094 lb-ft at the crank. Seven boost-by-speed settings range from 10 to 42 psi, corresponding to approximately 600 to 1,300 wheel horsepower. Finished in Imperial Jade Mica with a beige leather interior, this Supra combines serious drag- and roll-racing capability with an extensive list of Powerhouse Racing, Radium Engineering, BC Racing, Grannas Racing, Hypertune, Plazmaman, Turbosmart, and Haltech hardware. The work is reported to have been completed by KM Autowerks, with tuning by Lawrence Shipman / LS Fabrication.

Exterior and Interior

The exterior of this 1998 Toyota Supra is finished in Imperial Jade Mica and incorporates a number of carefully selected aerodynamic and appearance upgrades. A Seibon TS-style carbon fiber hood has been finished in Pearl Imperial Jade Mica over the carbon construction, while the body is fitted with authentic VeilSide side skirts and rear spats, a Ridox-style front bumper, and a TS-style front lip. A Loz Customs passenger-side headlight incorporates a 5-inch carbon duct opening to feed the high-output turbo setup. BC Forged TD-03 wheels measure 19x10 +38 up front and 19x11 +57 at the rear and are paired with Nitto R555R2 tires, while a KSM CTSV brake kit and BC Racing BR Series coilovers support the chassis. The car has also received a five-year ceramic coating and paint correction by Flash Auto Detailing. At the rear, a Pro Spec rear-wiper delete kit is installed, with the removed wiper motor retained and reported to remain functional for reinstallation, while the antenna motor is disconnected but also reported to function. The interior of this 1998 Toyota Supra retains a beige theme with leather seats reupholstered by Ridies. Driver information has been substantially upgraded through a custom gauge cluster by Stu Hagen and a BTI 4.3-inch multi-integration touchscreen display, providing a more modern interface for monitoring the heavily modified powertrain. A one-of-one HellGato forged-carbon steering wheel incorporates a rolling antilag button, underscoring the car’s performance-focused setup. Supporting hardware extends beneath the trim as well, including a Powerhouse Racing battery box finished in matte black powder coat, matching PHR trunk deck and installation hardware, as well as a PHR radiator show plate and black-edition A/C compressor pulley cover. Taken together, the cabin retains the recognizable MKIV Supra layout while integrating the controls and monitoring equipment required for a build operating at four-digit wheel-horsepower levels.

Engine

The heart of this 1998 Toyota Supra is a built 3.0-liter 2JZ platform assembled around a block built by Brian Roche and configured for approximately 1,500-wheel-horsepower capability. The short block uses Diamond 9:1 pistons, BC MOAR connecting rods, Real Street billet main caps, ARP CA625+ main studs, King bearings, upgraded wrist pins, Carrillo rod bolts, and PHR billet plugs. The 2JZ-GTE cylinder head was also built by Brian Roche and received a competition valve job, headwork, decking, cleaning, lapping, checking, and assembly, along with Toyota shimless buckets, Kelford T202-D camshafts with 272-degree intake and 278-degree exhaust duration, GSC Power-Division intake valves, GSC Super Alloy exhaust valves, GSC dual valve springs with titanium retainers, radial valve locks, PHR billet cam gears, PHR cam gear bolts with billet stainless washers, and ARP CA625+ head studs. Additional engine hardware includes a Fluidampr harmonic balancer, Titan Motorsports ARP crank bolt, OEM 2JZ-GTE timing belt, PHR billet timing-belt drive gear, billet tensioner bracket, billet cam sensor delete, and PHR four-piece billet aluminum pulley set. Forced induction centers on a Precision Next Gen 8085 turbocharger with a T4 1.28 A/R turbine housing mounted to a Powerhouse Racing S1 single-turbo manifold. The system uses dual Turbosmart GenV HyperGate45 external wastegates, a Turbosmart eB2 four-port boost-control solenoid, PHR stainless boost-control lines, a TiAL Sport Q blow-off valve, PHR 5-inch intake, PHR 6-inch intercooler core, and PHR 3.0-inch hot-side intercooler piping. Intake hardware includes Hypertune billet 2JZ-GTE valve covers, a Hypertune intake manifold, Plazmaman billet six-injector inlet manifold, an 85mm Plazmaman throttle body, and OEM TPS hardware. The fuel system is equally substantial, with FIC 2150cc injectors, one Walbro 450LPH high-pressure E85 pump, dual Walbro Hellcat 525LPH flex-fuel pumps, a Radium Engineering fuel hanger, Radium fuel-filter mount, 10-micron stainless filter, A2040-series bypass regulator, XRP fuel lines and relays, and Radium fuel/brake-line retainers. Engine management is handled by a Haltech Elite 2500 ECU paired with an Induction Performance IGN-1A coil kit, WB1 single-channel CAN O2 wideband controller, AEM intake-air-temperature sensor, dual RIFE 150-psi pressure sensors, and a custom wiring harness. Cooling duties are supported by a Koyo aluminum radiator with Koyo cap, Induction Performance/ProSpeed dual SPAL PWM fans, PHR silicone rotated lower radiator hose, billet radiator support brackets, radiator overflow tank, and the associated Toyota oil pump, water pump, gasket, and timing components. Exhaust flow exits through a coated PHR 4-inch single-turbo downpipe, ceramic-coated dual wastegate dump tubes, PHR 4-inch stainless mandrel-bent midpipe, and a full PHR 4-inch titanium exhaust with burnt muffler and tip and a removable V-banded muffler section. The driveline was converted from the original automatic setup to a Grannas Racing T56 Magnum-F 6-speed manual using a McLeod RXT 1200HD twin-disc clutch. An OS Giken limited-slip differential, PHR billet rear differential bushings, and G-Force Outlaw axles help transfer the power to the rear wheels. With seven selectable boost settings, extensive supporting fuel and cooling systems, and dyno figures reaching 1,301 wheel horsepower, this is a thoroughly developed MKIV Supra build whose engine, transmission, differential, suspension, braking, and electronics have all been upgraded to support its extraordinary output.
