Overlanding is the act of traversing over rough terrain in a vehicle that’s kitted out as a mobile home, basically. Typically, an Overlander will be a 4x4 or off-roader, but every now and then, we come across another type of vehicle that’s been successfully converted into an Overlander. This 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Overlander is one such vehicle. Built on Mercedes-Benz’s popular Sprinter light commercial van platform, this vehicle is brand new, fresh from conversion into an Overlander, and can be yours right now if you choose. Exterior and Interior
From the outside, this 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Overlander clearly shows off its overlanding aspirations. The vehicle sits taller than stock and rides on a set of black alloy wheels, which are wearing BF Goodrich All Terrain tires. Then, there’s a crash bar with a set of LED fog lamps at the front to augment the vehicle’s already excellent LED headlamps. The crash bar assembly is part of a front skid plate that protects the vehicle’s radiator and engine bay underpinnings, once again telling us that this is no chocolate teapot but a vehicle that can actually go into the rough stuff. You might have also noticed the ladder at the rear, granting access to the roof rack that sits atop the vehicle for added cargo space. Perhaps you could get a tent up there as well or use it as a deck to enjoy starry nights. The interior of this 2024 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Overlander is where things get truly interesting. Up front, you’ve got two power-adjustable leather-upholstered seats, a typical no-nonsense Mercedes-Benz dashboard, and a multifunction steering wheel. Then, you’ll notice the vehicle has a proper infotainment system and an automatic climate control system with air conditioning. Meanwhile, in the rear, you’ve got a complete kitchen set-up, including a sink, induction cooker, and refrigerator. There’s a fan for ventilation, and we also spot a toilet in the rear, including a shower. Looking upwards, you’ll see a wood-trimmed ceiling, replete with speakers for music and an exhaust fan too. There’s a sofa that turns into a bed and an LCD TV inside the cabin, too. We’re sure that there’s so much more; we just haven’t been able to explore such a diverse vehicle in its entirety.
