In the world of heavy-duty trucks two names stand right on top, the Ford F-Series and Dodge Ram. Dodge Ram has been in the business of manufacturing pick-up trucks since the 1980s and as of 2010 the Ram marque is a stand-alone name for Dodge’s line of pick-up trucks. The Ram pick-ups are currently on their fifth generation of production with the first ever pick-up bearing the Ram moniker being the 1989 Dodge Ram D100. The first generation struggled a bit against the stablished competitors, but the second generation found a unique formula which garnered them the prestigious “Truck of the Year” by Motor Trend magazine in 1994. Fast forward to 2019 and Ram released their fifth generation Ram, to immense success. Our subject vehicle is a fifth generation 2020 Ram 2500 Limited Mega Cab with just over 12,000 miles on the clock and it comes from Texas.
Exterior and Interior
Dressed in a Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat exterior, this 2020 Ram 2500 Limited Mega Cab rides on a set of Ballistic off-road wheels wrapped in Fury off-road tires. It’s undergone some visual and suspension modifications, including a 5” Fabtech Radius Arm lift kit, power retractable side steps, body color matched front and rear bumpers, Rigid Industries light bar, B&W turn over ball in the bed trailer hitch and a LoadLifter 5000 with Joust wireless airbags. The interior of the Ram is complemented with a black leather upholstery, and factory options include Customer Preferred Package 2HM, Off-Road Package, Black Appearance Package, and a Limited Level 1 Equipment Group. The Limited Level 1 Equipment Group consists of a premium 17 speaker Harman/Kardon system, adaptive cruise control with stop, adaptive steering system, canter stop lamp with cargo view camera, digital rearview mirror, full-speed forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, surround-view camera system and a trailer reverse guidance. A 220-Apms alternator, power sunroof and a RamBox delete option finishes the look of the Ram.
Engine
The 2020 Ram 2500 Limited Mega Cab is powered by a Cummins 6.7L Turbodiesel I6 Heavy Duty engine, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine is able to produce 400hp and an earth-shattering 1,000 lb ft of torque. Its towing capability is rated at 11,640lbs. This is a vehicle that can practically tow anything thrown its way with ease.
This 2021 RAM 2500 Laramie Crew Cab SEMA Build takes an already capable Cummins-powered heavy-duty pickup and transforms it into a highly customized show-oriented build. Finished in Diamond Black Crystal Pearl-Coat over a custom Red leather interior, it combines factory equipment such as the Sport Appearance Package, Heavy-Duty Snow-Plow Prep Group, Laramie Level 1 Equipment Group, Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle, power sunroof, LED bed lighting, and Uconnect 12-inch navigation with an extensive collection of custom upgrades. The 2024 Ram 2500 Rebel Crew Cab is built for those who want heavy-duty capability without sacrificing personality, blending the strength of Ram’s legendary Cummins platform with the attitude of a purpose-built off-road truck. Finished in Olive Green Pearl-Coat, this example takes the Rebel formula even further with a series of owner-added upgrades focused on capability, appearance, and adventure. The 2013 Ram 1500 R/T Sport brings muscle-car attitude to a regular-cab pickup, combining the compact proportions of the short-wheelbase body with HEMI V8 power and the R/T’s more performance-focused factory equipment.
