Overview of 1955 Jaguar XK For Sale by Owner

For the eyes of many classic auto enthusiasts, very few vehicles are prettier than the XK120 and XK140 Jaguars. The Jaguar XK140 is the successor to the XK120 and used the same basic architecture featuring few interior and exterior upgrades. Jaguar was still riding high from victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so when the XK140 was ready to hit the market, Jaguar didn't think twice about using it as their selling point. It was introduced in 1954 as a 1955 model, making this 1955 Jaguar XK140 Drop head Coupe one of the debuting cars in the lineup. This gorgeous car has received an excellent full frame off restoration and has only 6,935 miles completed since then. Located in California, this eye-catcher is ideal to roll up to a fancy dinner party in style.

Exterior and Interior

The 1955 Jaguar XK140 Drop head Coupe is a posh performer flaunting elegant coachwork from every angle. It offers more interior space than its predecessor and has larger front and rear bumpers with override. Decent turn signals above the front bumper is another feature that distinguishes it from the previous model. Our subject specimen demands attention with its red exterior paint and chrome fittings starting from the front grille all the way to the rear bumper. The seller of this XK140 reports that its wheels, tires, breaks and the convertible top are all new instalments. More new upgrades can be found in the interior of this 1955 Jaguar XK140 including the seats, carpet, dash and glass. The new three-spoke Nardi steering wheel featuring wooden accents goes beautifully with the tan themed interior of this Jaguar. Its vintage center console holds the few gauges, knobs and buttons this classic Jaguar has to offer.

Engine

Under the lengthy bonnet of this stunning 1955 Jaguar XK140 Drop head Coupe is the Dual Overhead Cam Inline-6 engine that became the heart of Jaguar cars in the post war period. New upgrades and modifications continues to the engine bay as well featuring a new motor, a 4-speed manual transition and a new exhaust. According to Jaguar, this powertrain is capable of producing 190 horsepower out of the factory.

One of Jaguar Car’s sleekest and most timeless modern models with definite future classic status has got to be the first-generation XK. This grand tourer was made between 1996 and 2006 before the second generation took over. It was intended to replace the long-running XJS, and did so in a pretty comprehensive fashion. Offered in coupe and convertible forms, the XK could be had with six or eight cylinder power. Naturally, the latter is what most people want, and it’s what we have here. Behold, a 2003 Jaguar XK8 Coupe that’s got under 131,000 healthy miles to its name. That is an indicator of two things. One, this is a car that is very nice indeed to drive. Two, it’s built well, and if maintained properly, can easily double that figure in your hands. Your hands? Yes, this charismatic purring cat is up for sale in Scottsdale, Arizona.
