But the Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport carried the fight in the muscle car scene. Introduced in 1964, the Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport was an instant hit among younger buyers. The Chevelle SS became synonymous with overpowered muscle cars. A rare chance is at hand with this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible restomod with just 700 miles since the restoration.
The owner reports that the present black paint is the original and has a layer of paint protection, while the rest of the car features anti-rust spray. The convertible soft top of this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle restomod is reportedly new and finished in black. Moving to the front, we can see that the restomod has added halo ring lights to the front headlights, while the hood features black vents with chrome grilles. Chrome is added to the front grille, headlight bezels, and front bumper. The rear sports the pointed corners typical of 60's Chevelles, and the taillights have been replaced with custom LED units. More chrome can be seen around the boot lid, rear bumper, and tailpipes. The car rides on a set of swanky shuriken-style Forgiato chrome and silver painted wheels with black brake calipers stenciled with white Wilwood script. The interior features an entirely new reupholstering, as reported by the owner, and is finished in black with contrast orange diamond stitching. The aircon has been replaced with a Vintage Air sourced unit. The four-spoke black steering wheel features the crossed flags emblem on the horn, while the horizontally laid speedometer can be seen behind it. The seller reports that an aftermarket radio player with Bluetooth functionality is paired with the Kicker speakers.
Powering this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible restomod is the highly sought-after Turbo Jet 396cu 6.5L Big-Block V8, which the seller reports having come originally with the car. The seller says that the engine is completely rebuilt, along with the automatic transmission. New camshafts and headers have been added. Aiding the car stopping power is a complete disc brake system from Wilwood.
