Background Story of this 1967 Oldsmobile 442

Overview of 1967 Oldsmobile 442 For Sale by Owner

The Oldsmobile 442 was a muscle car made between 1964 and 1980. The name was revived for some later years as well, but the era stated above is arguably the most interesting one. As is the name. Sounds pretty random, doesn’t it? 442 or 4-4-2. Well, you see, it has a meaning, because the original 442 came with a 4-barrel carburetor, 4-speed manual transmission and 2 exhausts (dual exhaust configuration). Now do you get it? We had to do some research too, to get it. Either way, we have a 1967 Oldsmobile 442 Supreme for sale right now from Statham, Georgia. The car is a numbers-matching example with a 4-speed Muncie, a 400ci V8 and original 442 badging too. Grab it quick!

Exterior and Interior

This beautiful 1967 Oldsmobile 442 Supreme wears a sleek factory white suit and is a first-generation example. The car is also a convertible as you’d doubtless notice from our photos, and has a power-operated black vinyl top for weather protection when needed. It’s also got chrome bumpers and trim, original 442 badging, and some alloy wheels. But of course, the car’s most interesting element has got to be its face! It has dual headlamps like most self-respecting Sixties cars did, but instead of clustering the twin lights per side, they are bisected by the rectangular parking light instead. That makes for a very distinctive appearance! The interior of this 1967 Oldsmobile 442 Supreme features black leather seating for up to four adults, across two individual front seats and a rear bench. It’s a nice and airy place to spend time in, especially when the car’s top is down. Amenities include a wood-rimmed steering wheel, an Oldsmobile-branded push-button radio and a heating and ventilation system too. The trunk is similarly pristine and includes the spare wheel plus a set of jump leads – a critical element for any classic car.

Engine

This 1967 Oldsmobile 442 Supreme packs a massive 400ci V8 under the hood. A sticker on the heads proudly proclaims that the engine is rated to deliver a reported 350 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. It’s connected to a slick 4-speed Muncie manual transmission and drives the rear wheels.

Now here’s a legend of the muscle car scene, the fearsome Oldsmobile 442. Made between 1964 and 1980 as a proper performance machine, it was well-known for decimating nearly all comers at the drag strip. The 442 was potent out of the box, but it could also be tuned with near unlimited scope. Today, those who seek a 442 do so not only for its performative capabilities but its style as well. That’s why we are proud to offer this Torrance-based second-generation 1969 Oldsmobile 442 for sale. With under 107,000 miles, it’s definitely been enjoyed but has so much more to give. Of course when you’ve got a 400ci V8 under the hood and a stick shift to control it with, you don’t want to end journeys too quickly…

The Oldsmobile 442 earned its reputation in the golden muscle car era by combining power, presence, and everyday drivability. By 1970, it stood shoulder to shoulder with GM’s finest offerings, and today it remains one of the most respected names of the period. Our featured 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Holiday Coupe, finished in blue inside and out, brings that legacy back with a recently rebuilt powertrain and modern precision engineering. Located in Orland Park, Illinois, this example is powered by a period-correct but non-numbers-matching 455ci V8, paired with a Turbo 400 transmission. With a reported rebuild date of May 2023, this 442 offers a fresh take on classic American muscle.

Oldsmobile is yet another one of those American automakers who is, sadly, no more. Our country’s storied automotive history is littered with such manufacturers who gave us some truly spectacular machines; yet time and economics were unkind to them. But have you heard of the Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds range? You see, in 1968, Oldsmobile collaborated with renowned aftermarket tuning firm Hurst Performance to create a special line-up of sporty cars. They started with the Cutlass. By 1983, it was time to celebrate 15 years of this amazing partnership, and a line-up of special 15th Anniversary Edition Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds were made. This 1983 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds 15th Anniversary Edition is one of just 3,001 units made, and comes to you with 14,152 miles. 1957 Chevrolet Corvette

Current Ask

PENDING SALE
$114,999

In 1953, Chevrolet introduced a car that would shake up the American sports car market. Yes, the Corvette was born that year. With breathtaking styling by Harley Earl, this iconic sports car initially came with a six-cylinder engine that was definitely unsuitable for such an amazing piece of automotive art and mechanical excellence. So, Chevy rectified the mistake by 1955 with the introduction of the Small-Block V8. Initially displacing 265ci, it grew to a 327ci unit by 1962. That’s what we have in this 1957 Chevrolet Corvette, with its 327ci V8 that packs dual quad carburetors and a reported output of 400 horseower. This Washington-based car also comes with its original interior, as well as original Corvette wheels. If you want a special classic Corvette that’s definitely going to be valuable for years to come, talk to us right now.

1973 Triumph GT6

Current Ask
VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$26,999

Ah, Triumph. One of those sadly defunct British sports car makers responsible for giving us some truly awesome pint-sized roadsters to drive enthusiastically. The British really got the whole less is more thing down to an art form during much of the 20th century. They perfected the recipe of small dimensions, modestly-sized but revvy engines and chuckable driving dynamics to a great extent. The Triumph GT6 was something a little more than your typical British sports car. For starters it was a proper, fixed-head coupe and it came with a straight six under the hood. That’s what we have for sale today, a 1973 Triumph GT6 from Clearwater, Florida. It’s got just over 33,000 miles, a 2.0-liter straight six, a manual gearbox and all the charm you’d expect from a classic British car. Why not make it your own, then?
