A symbol of rebellion against the corporate machine, the Pontiac GTO was the cheeky result of General Motors banning their divisions from competing in auto racing in 1963. Three plucky gents, namely Bill Collins, Russ Gee and John Z. DeLorean weren’t pleased. However, these three smarts realized that while they couldn’t officially compete in racing, there was nothing to stop them from making thinly-veiled racing machines that could be sold to customers, to do as they pleased.
