While Bentley had been spending the entirety of their time building uber luxury cars for the super-rich, the British carmaker's new management, Volkswagen AG, decided that it was time to make a Bentley for the people. The inspiration behind the Continental was to create a relatively affordable car that would appeal to a younger customer segment whilst still upholding the prestigious brand name. Bentley finally released the Continental in 2003 as a sporty Grand Tourer. It was the first Bentley to be manufactured using mass production manufacturing techniques, making it more affordable. In 2009, Bentley announced the limited edition Continental Supersports, a more capable version of the base model. This car is a 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports with 30,922 miles, and it's available for purchase in the Sunshine State, Florida. When new, it wore a window sticker price of $277,900.
The Continental Supersports received a few exterior changes over the base model. Larger air vents upfront for improved air intake and a more aggressive diffuser in the rear. This specific model is cloaked in a brilliant Glacier White exterior paint coupled by a set of 20" 10-spoke 'Supersports' wheels that have been flushed in a Smoked Steel finish. The car is fitted with 275/35 ZR20 Pirelli Ultra High-Performance tires, carbon-ceramic brakes, the largest ever fitted to a production car during the time of its release, as well as air suspension with manual driver ride height adjustment. As you might have imagined, Bentley takes great pride in creating cabins that are unmatched in terms of quality. This 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports has a Beluga interior, complete with black leather bucket seats, diamond-stitched Alcantara, carbon fiber on the dash panel, a 3-spoke single tone hide trimmed multifunction sports steering wheel, the comfort seat option, 10 speaker audio system, drilled alloy sports foot pedals and multizone climate control.
This is where the Supersports had a lot going on for it. Being the first-ever Bentley capable of running on both petrol and biofuel, its 6.0L W12 now produced 621hp and sent it to all four wheels, nearly 70hp more than the base Continental. The Supersports has a 0-60 time of just 3.7 seconds thanks to the revised ZF 6HP26A Tiptronic automatic with a "Quickshift" system that Bentley claims reduces shift times by up to 50%.

British luxury automaker Bentley was acquired by Volkswagen Group in 1998. Naturally, the pressure was on, to see how the new owners would fare. In 2003, the first Bentley model released under the new management reached the market, the Continental GT. It was also the first Bentley to employ mass-manufacturing techniques, for economic reasons. However, this didn’t detract from the brand’s set standards; rather, it took them to new heights. Today, an early model Continental GT, such as this 2005 Bentley Continental GT is a sure-fire future classic, a well-built car, and something that you’ll truly cherish every drive in. What’s more alluring is, this particular car has just 21,092 miles under its belt.
Turn back the clock to the early 2000s and the automotive landscape was filled with future icons. Choosing your poison would have been a tough task as each offering served its purpose well, but what if you wanted a machine that could do it all? A grand tourer would be the perfect way to cruise into the weekend in style, be a performance machine when needed and even be eyecandy to look at. Present today is a true grand touring icon from the 2000s and it takes shape with this lovely 2005 Bentley Continental GT. With a reported 71,000 miles on the clock, this machine is the perfect all rounder and your way of experiencing grand touring in all its glory.
It seems that the majority of cars are built with sportiness in mind. They’re all about setting record lap times and immense cornering speeds. Sometimes though, it is time to take a step back and appreciate the other end of the spectrum. This 2005 Bentley Continental GT with just 48,000 miles on the odometer is not a car you set record lap times in, but perhaps a new Canon Ball record. That’s more its forte. Wafting along the interstate in complete silence is something that most other cars struggle to achieve. With the name synonymous with Bentley for several decades, Bentley has built a reputation for creating one of the best, if not the best grand tourers of all time, and the rest as they say is history.
The Bentley Continental was introduced in 2003, as the first Bentley under Volkswagen ownership of the iconic British luxury automaker.
