In 2003, Bentley Motors did something that was totally against their tradition. The company, now under Volkswagen AG, decided that it was time to build a Bentley that would be more attainable, and appeal to a younger set of clientele. Their solution was revealed at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show, a sporty grand tourer dubbed the Continental GT. This car was the first-ever Bentley to be developed using mass-production techniques, making it significantly more affordable than most other vehicles in the automaker's arsenal, and they sold impressively. The GT Speed as featured here has been around since 2014 and was introduced as a more performance-driven variant of the Continental GT. The example in discussion has been reported by the seller to be an ultra-rare trim of the GT Speed, being just 1 of 10 with its specifications. The car is currently up for sale in Florida with just 9,000 miles on the road.
Exterior and Interior
For the GT Speed, Bentley made some changes to distinguish its appearance. The GT Speed was given a dark tint on the front upper and lower grills, Speed branded treadplates, unique design 21" Speed wheels, and a chrome 'Speed' badge on both front fenders. This 2017 Bentley Continental GT Speed is the 'Black edition', and comes with Cyber yellow accents around the car (including the mirrors caps) contrast beautifully with the Anthracite exterior paint. The car sits on a set of 21-inch dark tint Speed design wheels wrapped in Pirelli PZERO tires. Inside, the Beluga main hide interior is paired with the same Cyber Yellow accents as the exterior. The ventilated and massage optioned front bucket seats are electrically adjustable and include Cyber Yellow diamond stitching with 'Speed' embossed on the headrests, bits of carbon fiber, deep pile floor mats both front and rear, as well as neck warmers. Standard comforts include a premium sound system and dual-zone climate control.
Engine
Powering this 2017 Bentley Continental GT Speed Black Edition Convertible is the massive EA398 6.0L twin-turbocharged W12 engine paired with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission producing nothing short of 616hp. The GT Speed was also given a suspension upgrade that included better anti-roll bars, air springs, dampers, and suspension uprights. Massive disc brakes on all wheels ensure that this swift lounge-on-wheels will stop in an appropriate fashion too.

Showing just 578 miles, this virtually new example is beautifully specified in an elegant Camel exterior over a Linen interior, complemented by the sought-after Mulliner appointments, Touring Specification, Blackline Specification, and an impressive Bang & Olufsen for Bentley audio system. Finished in elegant White Sand over Linen hide, it is beautifully suited to the Flying Spur’s mission: transport four adults in extraordinary comfort while retaining the power, pace, and unmistakable occasion of a proper Bentley.
