Many aspire to be the proud owner of a Porsche sports car, and Porsche helped some realize their dreams when they introduced the Boxster in 1996, as their entry-level offering. The first generation Boxster was a mid-engined two-seat roadster that was the first Porsche since the 550 to be designed as a roadster from the outset. Four generations on, the current 982 generation wears the designation ‘718 Boxster’ and its fixed-head sibling ‘718 Cayman’, the 718 being a reference to Porsche’s 718 race car which won the Targa Florio in 1959 and 1960. Here’s a lovely 2021 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 from Florida as a worthy contender. It’s got just 11,789 miles on the clock.
Exterior and Interior
The fourth-generation Boxster’s styling is the work of Peter Varga and continues the iconic silhouette that was set by the first generation. This 2021 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 wears a sober GT Silver Metallic paint coat that’s further restrained by the professionally-installed 3M Satin Dark Grey wrap. The wheels are black, with new tires at the rear, and the windows have been treated to a ceramic tint. The convertible top is in black too, and this car has been optioned with the module to allow controlling the convertible top via the key fob. The rear Porsche logo is set in satin black too. Step aboard and you find a Bordeaux Red and Black interior with preparation for two-tone leather optioned as well. The steering wheel and gear lever are wrapped in leather, the Deletion of Race-Tex option has been selected, and there is a hard-wired dash cam and luggage net in the passenger footwell. Ventilated seats and the Smoking Package have been optioned, as has the Navigation Package with Porsche Connect.
Engine
The fourth-generation Boxster and Cayman are available with a choice of three engines, namely a turbocharged 2.0L flat-four, turbocharged 2.5L flat-four, and a naturally-aspirated 4.0L flat-six. This 2021 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0, as the name suggests is powered by the naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six, and drives the rear wheels via 7-speed Porsche PDK transmission. This engine puts out 394hp and 310lb-ft, and with the PDK, can rocket from zero to sixty in a whisker under four seconds, and carry on up to 180mph.
The Porsche 718 Boxster was introduced in 2016 as the successor to the popular Porsche Boxster that redefined entry-level Porsche sports cars. Yes, Porsche has offered an entry-level model for much of its recent history, a sort of feeder, if you will, towards ownership of a 911 or some of the brand’s other models. That hasn’t stopped the 718 Boxster from also being one of the best enthusiast cars out there, an ideal tool for learning the basic and advanced techniques of performance driving. Regardless of which camp you may belong to, this 2025 Porsche 718 Boxster is a nice option to consider. It’s got only more than 5,000 miles on the clock and comes with 1 key plus a car cover included with the sale. The car is available in Manteca, California.
For what feels like an eternity, Porsche has wowed the world with their inexplicable ability to build cars that perform like no other. Each time they refresh, overhaul, and produce a new model, everything gets just that little bit better, Rather satisfying for Porsche connoisseurs. This 2022 Porsche 718 Boxster T, with just over 4,000 miles on the clock, is the perfect blend of a sleek, precisely engineered sports car and a fun convertible. If Porsche has been producing stuff like this for 60+ years, it’s safe to assume it’s one hell of a car to drive.
Although the Porsche 911 is widely recognized as Porsche's flagship model, the Porsche 718 is an often overlooked contender that deserves attention. Originally introduced in 1957 as the Porsche 550 series successor of open top sports-racing cars, the 718 was specifically designed for Formula racing. Over time, the focus of the 718 shifted, and it now carries the 982 model designation. In 2016, the fourth-generation Boxster and third-generation Cayman were introduced under the 982 designation. Now, in 2023, Porsche presents the latest iteration of the 718 Boxster in the form of the low-mileage 2023 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0. This unique offering provides an alternative choice for those seeking a distinctive driving experience outside the realm of the iconic 911.
