If you ever find yourself longing for a compact sports sedan, you’d immediately think of the Europeans with the German likes of the BMW M3 and Audi RS4 or the Italians with the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrafoglio. They have always dominated this segment, but the Japanese also have an ace up their sleeve. This 2023 Lexus IS500 F-Sport with just 10,000 miles under its belt is ready to tackle whatever is thrown its way

Stepping into the interior, it’s Lexus' business as usual. You are greeted with some excellent black leather seats, heated and ventilated, of course. The center display controls the incredible Mark Levinson sound system with Apple CarPlay capabilities. Don’t feel intimidated by the high-powered powertrain, the IS is the perfect daily thanks to creature comforts like Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and a sunroof. Unlike the conservative europeans, the Japs are a bit bold with their styling choices. Finished in a beautiful shade of silver, each line and curve works together, making this car a proper head turner. And just look at those exterior mirrors and the rear diffuser. Upgrades include aftermarket Vossen S17-04 wheels and RS-R Best-i coilovers, giving the car a proper stance. A real show stopper indeed.

While the Europeans make do with those puny straight 6s, the Japanese have decided to buck that trend and take the phrase “Go Big or Go Home” literally. Under the hood lies a glorious 5-liter V8. A symphony to the ears thanks to the Upgraded Novel Racing headers and exhaust system. Making around 470 hp, the IS can sprint to 60 in under 5 seconds. And putting all that power down to the rear wheels is a buttery-smooth 8-speed automatic transmission.

Anyone who has even a passing interest in cars likely knows about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. This is what happened when Mitsubishi decided to inject some of their World Rally Championship-winning DNA into their Lancer compact car. Ten generations of Evolution were made between 1992 and 2016, thrilling enthusiasts across the globe. Early models sadly didn’t make it to the United States, but later ones did. This particular 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR is rather interesting, as it’s from the last generation of Evo, as they are fondly known. With its 2.0-liter MIVEC TURBO engine, 5-speed manual transmission and Sight & Sound Package, it’s got quite a value proposition to offer. In short, it’s a ferociously quick family car that can easily settle down for a daily drive, then buckle up for the weekend blast at the track.

When the Honda NSX two-seat mid-engined sports car was released in 1990, it was widely regarded to be Japan’s first proper supercar. NSX stands for New Sports car – eXperimental, and saw inspiration from many corners including Formula 1 and the F-16 jet fighter. It also showcased Honda’s now-ubiquitous VTEC system, and received development input from the late great Aryton Senna. In the United States, the NSX was sold under Honda’s premium Acura badge, which showcased its positioning appropriately. Today, we have a nice 1991 Acura NSX for sale from Tampa. This car has driven just over 84,000 miles so far and comes with the original owner’s manual and service records. Furthermore, it's got an all-aluminum monocoque frame, a feature that the NSX was the first production car in the world to have.
