What do Bentley and Volkswagen AG have in common? None than the Bentley Continental GTC. The Bentley Continental GT was first showed off in 2003, and it was the first car to be released by Bentley under the Volkswagen AG umbrella since 1998. Another first for Bentley is that the Continental was the first car to step away from the usual handcrafted Bentley builds to mass production manufacturing techniques. The Bentley Continental GTC is currently on its third generation and with a myriad of special editions under its belt. Our subject vehicle is a second-generation drop-top 2013 Bentley Continental GTC with just 28,200 miles on the clock from New York.
This 2013 Bentley Continental GTC is dressed in gorgeous Glacier White, riding on a set of black OEMs 20” Bentley 5-spoke alloy wheels. It’s a convertible (hence the ‘C’) and has a black electrically operated convertible top. The interior is exquisitely and lavishly kitted out with premium leather upholstery and wood veneer trim. The interior of the GTC features heated 14-way power front seats with memory functions, a power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an infotainment system with satellite navigation, Bluetooth, and iPod connectivity. The seats feature the Bentley logo stitched on the headrests as with the 3-spoke multi-function leather clad steering wheel. This Bentley GTC comes with adaptive suspension and the convenience package from the factory. Standard on the Continental GTC is stability control, traction control, ABS, and side airbags for all seats. Another notable safety feature is the rollover protection system which is automatically deployed from behind the rear seats.
The 2013 Bentley Continental GTC was offered with two powertrains, the 4.0L twin turbo V8 and the 6.0L twin turbo W12 engine. This GTC is powered by the V8, which features trick cylinder-deactivation technology on part loads to improve fuel economy. The output is 500hp and 487 lb.ft of torque which is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic with manual shifting via steering-mounted paddles. In normal driving, 60% of the power is sent to the rear wheels. The headline figures are 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 187mph.
Turn back the clock to the early 2000s and the automotive landscape was filled with future icons. Choosing your poison would have been a tough task as each offering served its purpose well, but what if you wanted a machine that could do it all? A grand tourer would be the perfect way to cruise into the weekend in style, be a performance machine when needed and even be eyecandy to look at. Present today is a true grand touring icon from the 2000s and it takes shape with this lovely 2005 Bentley Continental GT. With a reported 71,000 miles on the clock, this machine is the perfect all rounder and your way of experiencing grand touring in all its glory.
It seems that the majority of cars are built with sportiness in mind. They’re all about setting record lap times and immense cornering speeds. Sometimes though, it is time to take a step back and appreciate the other end of the spectrum. This 2005 Bentley Continental GT with just 48,000 miles on the odometer is not a car you set record lap times in, but perhaps a new Canon Ball record. That’s more its forte. Wafting along the interstate in complete silence is something that most other cars struggle to achieve. With the name synonymous with Bentley for several decades, Bentley has built a reputation for creating one of the best, if not the best grand tourers of all time, and the rest as they say is history.
