The Chevrolet Master and Master Deluxe were Chevy’s solid and dependable passenger car offering between 1933 and 1942. It took over from the popular but ageing Chevrolet Eagle series, and improved upon it in nearly every way. Chevy Master / Master Deluxe buyers could pick from a coupe, cabriolet, sedan or pickup truck. As World War II raged on, production ceased in 1942 to redirect precious resources towards the war effort. Nevertheless, there are some survivors, such as this 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe from Lakewood, Washington. This vehicle is actually a sort of restomod as it’s got a newer powertrain and some interior creature comforts to enjoy. So if you want to drive a classic 1930s Chevy but don’t want to put up with sluggish period engines and spartan passenger cabins, this car is a great choice to purchase.
Exterior and Interior
This 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe comes in a very period color, black. In those early years, black was a common choice for vehicles as it was simple and easy to come by. It was only after World War II and well into the Fifties that pastel hues and broader color choices were offered. Rolling on whitewall tires with chrome center caps, this car has got a very gangster vibe going about it. You can easily imagine it being the getaway car in a 1930s silent film. The custom interior of this 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe features aftermarket air conditioning and an aftermarket audio player. Engine
This 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe comes with an overhauled 350ci V8 powering it along, a far cry from the wheezy and inefficient 206ci six-cylinder unit that it came from the factory with. There’s no need to faff about with gear changes either, as a GM 700R4 automatic transmission has been fitted, sending drive to a 9-inch rear end. Finally, this beautiful classic features 4-wheel power disc brakes to help with stopping.

Few cars capture late-1980s American performance quite like a C4 Corvette. With its long clamshell hood, low-slung cockpit, pop-up headlights, and unmistakable V8 soundtrack, the C4 represented a dramatic leap forward for America’s sports car. This 1988 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible shows 56,274 miles and combines its 5.7-liter L98 V8 with a 4-speed automatic transmission and the desirable Z52 Sport Handling Package. The 1937 Chrysler Royal Series comes from an era when Chrysler leaned heavily on smooth straight-six power, Art Deco styling, and long-distance comfort, and this example keeps that character largely intact. Showing approximately 38,362 miles, it is powered by a 228ci L-head inline-six with a single-barrel carburetor and a 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Finished in black with what the current owner reports to be original paint, this Royal also benefits from a reupholstered red interior, replacement clutch and exhaust components, updated wiring, and added turn signals. The owner further reports a sandblasted frame, body-off refurbishment, approximately 95% tire tread remaining, and a rust-free body.
