Overview of 1939 Ford Deluxe For Sale by Owner

Vintage Fords seem to take two forms these days. Pristinely-restored classics with true to original form, or wacky hot rods that change nearly everything. Today’s 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe straddles the line between these two. On the outside, this nice green classic looks pretty stock. Under the skin and on the inside, though, it’s been tastefully upgraded to make it more pleasant to drive, showcase, and enjoy. Now up for grabs in Carnation, Washington with 24,308 miles on the odometer, it’s the perfect way to enjoy a car from the 1930s with modern features such as a sound system, automatic gearbox and heating.

Exterior and Interior

From outside, this 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe doesn’t look like it has anything new within its smooth green body. The car’s chromed bumpers, angled front grille and circular headlamps all remain intact. Its wheels are red steel units with chrome half-caps, albeit wearing modern 195/65 tires. Yes, this car stays as true to original form as possible, which makes it a sort of sleeper, albeit in vintage car terms. You’re not going to out-race any of today’s cars, but put up against more period-correct machines in stock form, you’ll surprise them all. Why’s that? Read on. The gray interior of this 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe is where we see some upgrades. The steering wheel and pedals are newer units, and you’ll note that there are only two pedals. Yes, this car packs an autobox, ideal for those who never learned to drive stick. There’s a Pioneer head unit on board, a tachometer has been discretely added within the original-style array of modern gauges, and the speakers are mounted in the rear of the cabin. In fact, if you pop the trunk, you can see their boxes and rear portions, along with a Jensen two-channel amplifier, and the battery has been relocated here as well. The heater lies within the passenger side of the footwell.

Engine

This 1939 Ford Deluxe Coupe packs a 221ci Flathead V8, albeit an upgraded Offenhauser unit. A cursory glance at the engine bay reveals new items such as plug wires, distributor cap, radiator and hoses. As mentioned, the car now packs an automatic transmission to send power to the rear wheels.
