Overview of 1947 DeSoto Deluxe Coupe For Sale by Owner

For those who haven't heard of DeSoto, the brand was a subdivision of the Chrysler corporation before it dissolved in 1961. One of the more sought-after vehicles was the S-10, also known as the Deluxe, of which we have an example here today. This beautiful example is said to have been preserved with much attention, and with the current seller reporting that it was repainted roughly three to four years ago, it's looking as good as it did when it first rolled out of the factory and is a gem for any classic car collector. This one happens to be up for grabs.

Exterior and Interior

The S-10 carried a similar trend to cars that were designed during the late 40s and 50s. However, the Deluxe had slightly less chrome trim and standard features than the Custom model. That, though, is not apparent here. This example is imposing. It sits in a beautiful White Arctic Ice exterior paint with a subtle flame accent running down the side of the body. The car has been fitted with an aggressive front grille which the owner reports to be recently re-chromed. This 1947 De Soto Deluxe also has re-chromed trim, bumpers, and disc brakes in the front. The car's interior takes its passengers back to the 40s when a gray and white colored plaid was a norm for car cabins, a split windscreen was to be expected, and flashy chrome accents were an automotive designer's way of showing finesse. This 1947 De Soto Deluxe has preserved its original dash and dashboard and includes an air conditioning unit to enjoy a touch of modern creature comforts.

Engine

The original De Soto S-10s came with either a 236ci or 250ci straight-6, but according to the current owner, the original engine of this 1947 De Soto Deluxe had been swapped somewhere down the line with a much more powerful 400ci Chrysler V8 that's paired with a four-speed standard manual transmission.
