Background Story of this 1956 Jaguar XK

Overview of 1956 Jaguar XK For Sale by Owner

Jaguar Cars of Britain is well known for making some fine sporting machines during its long history. Before we had examples such as the breathtaking E-Type, or XK-E in North America, machines like the XK120, XK140 and XK150 ruled the roost. These were fine sports cars meant to embody the spirit of driving, and targeted at those who desired the best blend of luxury and driving pleasure. Between 1954 and 1957, it was the turn of the XK140 which brought more interior space as well as upgraded mechanicals over the XK120 which it replaced. A total of 8,937 cars was made during this time, with just 1,959 fixed-head coupes produced in left-hand drive. That makes this 1956 Jaguar XK140 one of 1,959 units, a statistic that places it in greater rarity than some supercars! If you’d like to be its next custodian, this 3.4-liter machine awaits your kind consideration in New Albany, Ohio.

Exterior and Interior

Wearing a blue coat of paint, this 1956 Jaguar XK140 is quintessentially Fifties British sports car at its finest. There’s no mistaking it for an American car, or something produced by the Continent. Its wire wheels with knock-off hubs, rear spare tire compartment, large circular headlamps and chrome bumpers all mark it out as a product of Great Britain. In fact, the car’s slightly upwards facing stance lends it an eager proposition, almost like it’s waiting to be driven! As you step aboard its passenger cabin, replete with burl wood dashboard and door caps, red leather seats and red carpeting, you’ll be greeted by Smiths instrumentation and a two-plus-two seating configuration. Yes, you can take your kids in this car and they’ll likely put down their smartphones to take in the experience. Behind the classic outlook lies a modernized sound system too, making this car great for those who crave driving tunes while enjoying a cruise.

Engine

This 1956 Jaguar XK140 has a 3.4-liter naturally aspirated straight six under the hood. It’s fed by dual SU carburetors. Back in the day, this engine was rated to make a reported 210 horsepower at 5,750rpm. A 4-speed manual transmission sends drive to the rear wheels.

1997 Jaguar XK 8 Convertible

VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$10,490
SOLD

The Jaguar XK was made between 1996 and 2014, across two generations. It was a fine two-door four-seat grand tourer from this iconic British luxury automaker that aimed to offer a laid back yet potent driving experience. Naturally, Jaguar also made it in drop-top form, for those who like an open-air experience. While the second generation is a sharp looking vehicle that’s still quite modern today, the first generation is a definite future classic. That’s why you should seriously consider buying this California-based 1997 Jaguar XK8 Convertible that we’ve got for sale. This car has traveled 118,956 miles so far, which shows how nice it is to drive. Moreover, it’s said to be all original, and the hydraulic pump has been replaced.

VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$144,999

One of the prettiest cars in the world, the Jaguar E-Type was so breathtaking when it launched in 1961 that it reportedly was able to even captivate the heart of Enzo Ferrari! Called the XK-E for the North American market, it was made between 1961 and 1974 and offered in coupe and convertible variants. Purists argue that the coupe is the better looking of the two, and if you’d like to join in the discussion, why not get some ammo? Here’s a 1967 Jaguar XK-E 2+2 for sale from Cincinnati, Ohio. It’s a wonderful specimen of one of the most prolific cars of the Sixties and is an excellent future investment too.

1951 Packard 200

VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$20,000

Packard is an American auto brand that you’ve likely never heard of, or if so, in passing. Your parents might know if it though, your grandparents definitely will. That’s because the Packard Motor Company of Detroit, Michigan made cars between 1899 and 1956. They are widely known as the purveyors of the modern steering wheel, air conditioning in cars, and one of the first production 12-cylinder engines! Sad, then, that such an iconic brand died a quiet death in the Fifties, merging with Studebaker by 1953 and quietly disappearing thereafter. One of their last models was the 200, and we have an example for sale today. This 1951 Packard 200 comes from Marietta, Georgia, and has done just 19,000 miles as per what we’ve been told. It’s a fine classic car for those who seek an unusual choice rather than going with the usual suspects from the major brands.
