Background Story of this 1960 Chevrolet Impala

Overview of 1960 Chevrolet Impala For Sale by Owner

Chevy’s Impala is one of the Bowtie automaker’s best-known names over the decades. Introduced in 1958 and named after the African antelope of the same name, the Impala was available until as recently as 2020, when the tenth generation was finally put out to pasture. Along the way, it’s represented solid and dependable family transportation, as well as providing some thrilling ‘hot’ variants too. Between 2007 and 2012, the Impala was also a NASCAR contender! Today, we have a fine example of the Impala’s glorious legacy, in the form of this fine second-generation car from Placerville, California. With a mere 26,457 miles to its name, this two-tone car is certainly a head-turner on the classic car circuit, as well as when driving around town.

Exterior and Interior

Wearing a very Sixties shade of Horizon Turquoise paint, this sleek 1960 Chevrolet Impala 4-Door Sedan showcases what family cars were like back then. Long lines, significant overhangs and plenty of chrome were the order of the day. For example, you’ve got chrome ‘Arrow’ inserts, chrome tips for the dual exit exhaust, chrome bumpers, and even shiny half-caps for the car’s 15-inch steel wheels. Meanwhile, the roof features a white paint job for a nice contrasting effect. You’ve also got full-length stainless side moldings with the Impala signature. And at the rear, how can we miss the fins? Fins were a very Fifties and Sixties styling cue, inspired by the rise of jet aircraft, and this car sports some very classy fins that aren’t too ostentatious or sky-high, but simply elegant. The interior of this 1960 Chevrolet Impala 4-Door Sedan retains the period correct aura, with a very playful turquoise and aqua two-tone theme. Sporting two bench seats and original fittings, this car harks back to a time where everything was manually operated, and touchscreens were unheard of. Take the AM/FM radio for example – you tune it with a knob and set/select pre-sets via actual buttons. If you want ventilation or warm air, you’ve got to use sliders.

Engine

With a 283ci V8 under the hood, this 1960 Chevrolet Impala 4-Door Sedan has got adequate power for its purpose. A 2-barrel carburetor and 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission make it superbly easy and relatively frugal (in comparison with larger-engined machines from the time). Of course, rear-wheel drive is standard!

Impala sounds nice, doesn’t it? Saying “I drive an Impala” has a great ring about it. That’s likely what Chevy thought when they brought out this model in 1958, as their flagship passenger car. Named after an African antelope known for its grace and sleek build, the Impala would go on until 2020, produced across ten generations and in a variety of body styles. It’s been used by countless American families as their daily driver, has been offered in sporty guises, and has even graced the NASCAR circuit. Today, we have a third-generation 1963 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe for sale from Bismarck, North Dakota. This sleek machine sports many interesting features, including a 383 Stroker, a 700R4 transmission, and more. Let us tell you more, and if you’d like to give it a home, DM us right now. You’ll also get the owner’s manual and a car cover with the sale.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS

VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$109,999

Chevy’s answer to Ford’s pony car challenge, the Camaro came in 1967 and brought a sister along for the ride, in the shape of the Pontiac Firebird. This was a smart move by General Motors as it allowed them to sell two suitably varied models in the same segment but with much of the same underpinnings, engines and other components. The Firebird was axed in 2002 but the Camaro continued to be made until 2024. That makes it the second longest-running pony car in history. Today, we’ve got a nice first-generation 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS for sale in St. Cloud, Florida. This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 is a show-stopping example of American muscle restored to concours-level detail. Verified by its X66 code and built at the Norwood, Ohio plant, this real-deal Super Sport coupe combines factory originality with subtle performance enhancements that elevate both its drivability and collectability. With its matching-numbers big-block, correct Turbo 400 transmission, and period-authentic Holley 4346 carburetor, this Camaro is the perfect blend of raw 1960s muscle and expert craftsmanship.

1952 Chevrolet 3100 Restomod

Current Ask
VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$49,989

The first new Chevy truck to come out since World War II ended, the Advance Design era ran between 1947 and 1955. It replaced the older AK series and was bigger, stronger and sleeker in design. The range started with the 3100 half-tonner, and went on through the one-ton 3800, and into chassis cabs and medium-duty trucks. Now, the Advance Design has found some fame as a restomod platform. That’s what we have here, a 1952 Chevrolet 3100 Restomod from Smithville, Texas. This truck has undergone a full makeover, including a new 396ci V8, a 4-speed automatic gearbox, air conditioning and much more. If you want to rock and roll around in something different to your typical classic car, this is a fine option to consider.

1967 Chevrolet Corvette

Current Ask
VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$89,999

Chevy’s second-generation Corvette was made from 1963 to 1967, but across that relatively short lifcycle, over 117,000 examples found homes. This highlights how popular the Corvette was back then, much like it is now. The second generation or C2 brought about many features that we know from later ‘Vettes, such as pop-up headlamps, the boat-tailed styling, and the exclusive use of V8s for the Corvette – the C1 did offer a six cylinder early in its lifecycle but that wasn’t deemed worthy for a top-tier sports car. Today, we’ve got a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe for sale from Shohola, Pennsylvania, and let us tell you it’s a catch. With a growling 327 under the hood, this is classic American car nirvana at its finest. Plus, given the great condition of the car, it’s a sure-fire appreciating asset if you continue to look after it. If you’re interested in getting your hands on this beauty, we’re waiting for your call or DM.

1977 Chevrolet Corvette

Current Ask
VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$20,000

Chevy’s third-generation Corvette of 1968 to 1982 was the best-seller in the entire range, in terms of generational numbers. Thanks to its super-long production run, over 542,000 were made, despite it carrying on through the dreaded Malaise Era. During these dark times for automotive enthusiasts, Chevy worked hard to maintain the Corvette as one of the fastest American cars around – of course that was a subjective term, but impressive, nonetheless. Hence, a C3 Corvette is a robust way to enter the world of classic American cars. Want to know more? We’ve got a 1977 Chevrolet Corvette for sale from Littleton, Colorado right here. It packs a 350ci L48 under the hood, paired with an automatic transmission to make it more convenient for those who never bothered to learn stick shift.
