Background Story of this 1960 Ford F-100

Overview of 1960 Ford F-100 For Sale by Owner

Ford debuted the F-Series of pickup trucks in 1948, with the F-1 representing the entry-level, half-ton variant. By 1953, the second generation was introduced, and the F-1 became the F-100. Several generations later, by the seventh generation, a familiar number came; 150. Yes, the F-Series is still around, on the fourteenth generation, and the F-150 is one of the most popular pickup trucks in the USA. Today, we’ve got a nice third-generation 1960 Ford F-100 for sale that’s a great way to celebrate this iconic series and nameplate from one of America’s most prolific automakers. This Arizona-based example is more of a restomod, and comes with a powerful engine too. Let’s discover more about this truck, and find out why you should snap it up ASAP.

Exterior and Interior

This 1960 Ford F-100 wears an exterior of Iron Oxide Primer, giving it a very distinctive appearance, especially when paired with its silver hubcaps. Meanwhile, the wheels behind these wear Mickey Thompson ET Street tires at the rear. The truck also includes a full tilt body and front hood. The truck’s bed has also been refinished, and you’ll note the broader wheel humps to accommodate the massive rear tires. The interior of this 1960 Ford F-100 includes a LeCarra steering wheel on a custom tilt column, a custom dashboard with white-faced gauges including a massive rev counter sitting right in the center of the gauge cluster, and a Boss Bluetooth radio. The truck retains its bench seat, but adds lap belts for some safety. By now, you’ve probably gleaned that it’s quite swift when prodded.

Engine

Powering this 1960 Ford F-100 is a 460ci Ford V8, sending power to the rear wheels with a 3-speed automatic transmission. Helping the engine have the capability it needs, it's helped with an Edelbrock 460 Performance Intake Manifold, electric water pump and dual electric fans all helped with the aid of an HEI distributor.

1954 Ford F-100 Restomod

VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$88,500
SOLD

The second generation of Ford’s famous F-Series was made between 1953 and 1956. The F-100 was the half-tonner that marked entry into the series, and it was also the best seller. After all, a half-ton truck was what most farmers, small business holders and tradespersons needed. They didn’t want something larger and heavier. Instead, the half-tonner could fulfil work, as well as family transport needs. As time passed by, some of these trucks languished in disrepair, some were restored to pristinely stock order, and some became restomods. This 1954 Ford F-100 Restomod comes from that third category. With an extensive makeover that includes a gargantuan 521ci V8 under the hood, this 2,679-mile machine is now available in Mordoc, Indiana. Its interior has been reupholstered, its got a Flowmaster dual exhaust system, and much more to enjoy.

For decades, the Ford F-Series has been the default choice of many small business holders, particularly those in rural areas. That’s why the F-Series counts a fine legacy of fourteen generations since 1948 to date. Initially, the half-ton variant was called F-1, before becoming F-100, and then the famous F-150 moniker that we know today. Now, selecting a classic F-Series truck is a very smart decision because they are becoming quite desirable. Case in point, this 1972 Ford F-100 from Huntington Beach.
