Ford’s exciting Mustang continues to thrill over sixty years after the first one left the Detroit factory lines and introduced America to a segment called the Pony Car. The first generation of Mustang was made between late 1964 (known as 1964 ½ cars informally), and and 1973. Along the way, we saw many performance derivatives from tuners, not least the formidable Shelby Mustangs. But today, let’s talk about one of the other variants that Ford themselves offered, the Boss 302. Introduced in 1969 and made through 1970, the Boss 302 was a homologation variant introduced by Ford in order for them to compete in Trans Am racing. The 302ci engine was massively different to the unit in non-Boss cars, making Boss 302s quite desirable today.
