The Chevrolet C and K series were built between 1960 and 2002 in four generations and are the ancestors of today’s Silverados. The K models were 4-wheel drive, whereas the C models (like this one) were 2-wheel drive. The 3rd generation was introduced in 1973 and would be in production for the next 18 years. It was both larger and much better equipped than its predecessors. In addition to the increase in size, a 4-door crew cab was added to the lineup with seating for six passengers. Shifts in the market and the use of pickup trucks led to the availability of sedan features and options.
This generation was famous for its boxy design, earning it the nickname of “square body.” General Motors, in contrast, called it the “rounded line”. Being an older truck, despite the addition of more creature comforts in this generation, the C10 is still very minimalistic and utilitarian both inside and outside. The modifications made to this truck change this to an extent, especially on the inside. While the door upholstery and the single bench seat are still black, the bottom half of the dashboard is blue (matching the exterior). The new chrome-centered steering wheel also has a blue rim. Both the gear shifter and the steering column are chrome, and the gauges appear to have been upgraded to modern white-backed units. The exterior is mostly untouched, and the only significant indications that this truck isn’t stock are the aftermarket chrome alloy wheels and the new, somewhat chunky tires that they’re wearing.
The original drivetrain has been replaced with a new 383ci V8 engine and an automatic transmission — the originality of the latter has not been specified. It also appears to have power brakes. Judging by the logo on the engine cover, it seems to be a Chevy Vortec engine. The LED strips under the hood are an interesting addition and would be both eye-catching and useful, especially when showing off this beauty. Overall, it’s a clean and aesthetically-pleasing engine bay, especially with the polished radiator and the new engine and other components, which fit nicely into place with plenty of space to spare.
