Overview of 1984 Chevrolet Corvette Purple For Sale by Owner

1984 was the year when the Corvette's fourth generation would drop. The C3, or third generation, had been around since 1968, and as you can imagine, something new was eagerly awaited by the American automotive public. Chevy was stunned by the C4. The car sported a fresh design, the latest technology, an electronic instrument cluster, a new chassis, and more potent powertrains. It was truly a breath of fresh air, and we've got a beautiful 1984 Chevrolet Corvette up for sale right now. With 74,000 miles, it's still got plenty more to run and can be your weekend toy or daily driver if desired. Talk to us to know more about getting it on your driveway.

Exterior and Interior

The beautiful purple shade of paint that this 1984 Chevrolet Corvette is cloaked in is truly something to behold, paying testament to the efforts of designers Jerry Palmer and Dave McLellan. Furthermore, this particular car appears to wear a body kit and rear spoiler, further accentuating its good looks. It's even got a shiny set of aftermarket alloy wheels. Despite being a coupe with a rear glass liftback window, you can enjoy some open-air motoring thanks to the targa top, which was standard on all C4 coupes. Finally, pop-up headlamps. Need we say more? Inside, there's a redesigned cabin with space for two occupants, and we observe plenty of luxurious wood trim as well. The first thing that strikes you will be the aftermarket two-spoke Boyds steering wheel, followed by the electronic instrument cluster that uses groups of LEDs to indicate speed, revs and other information. Truly groundbreaking stuff at the time; it's still a sight to behold in 2023. There's a trip computer, power windows, power mirrors, air conditioning, and an aftermarket Boss radio head unit with a large touchscreen control interface. We also observe that the unit supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via a USB wired connection that's found in the passenger footwell. Behind the two seats, you'll find the luggage area directly beneath the glass liftback, and it's spacious to fit ample luggage for a cross-country jaunt.

Engine

This 1984 Chevrolet Corvette is powered by a 350ci L83 V8 that was the only engine available for the 1984 model year. Developing 205hp and 290lb-ft, it endows this 'Vette with usable performance, sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed 700R4 automatic transmission. The current owner reports that a new battery has been fitted to the car and that there's a small battery draw, which is something to bear in mind if you don't plan to run this car regularly.
