During the Sixties, the German luxury automobile manufacturer began acquiring a reputation as a leading manufacturer of sports-oriented cars. While BMW’s history dates back to 1916, their supercar-worthy BMW M division was only established in the Seventies with their first car released in 1978. One of the division's highly successful M lines is the BMW M3, the first of which was based on the second-generation BMW E30 3 Series. The E30 M3 was produced from 1986 to 1991 when it was succeeded by the E36 M3. The model was a super hit and remains one of the best sports cars of all time by Automobile Magazine. This sublime example of a 1990 BMW E30 M3 Coupe is one of only 5,330 ever made for the North American market, and has covered just 500 miles after a complete restoration. Owning this car would be a truly once-in-a-lifetime chance, and we urge you to act fast, since cars like this go like the proverbial hot cakes.
Part of the restoration included a repaint job finished in October 2021 and done in Anthracite by Auto City in San Francisco. Reportedly the car was bought brand new at Stevens Creek BMW. The M3s differentiation from the regular E30 includes a front body-colored splitter, a rear apron, and sill panels that were changed and made aerodynamically viable. The seller reports that the sunroof, rear spoiler, fog lights, and the factory body flares are all original. It sits on a set of original BMW 15” basketweave wheels done in silver with silver-colored brake calipers. The interior features a predominantly black color scheme with grey used for the cloth linings. The seller reports that the original black leather Recaro seats and rear bench have been redone to like new by Karliz Interiors, while new BMW M floor mats were added. The plain black BMW branded 4-spoke steering wheel looks inconspicuous due to its styling. The center-located transmission stick has a weighted M3 shift knob. Keeping the occupants cool is an AC system thoughtfully converted to use R134a refrigerant.
Powering this 1990 BMW M3 is a 2.35L displacement S14 inline-4 engine coupled to a 5-speed Getrag manual transmission with Limited Slip Differential and has been fluid serviced. On its own, this engine has fine racing pedigree in its DNA, based on the M/12/13 engine that powered the Brabham, Arrows, and Formula Benetton Formula 1 cars of the Eighties. The seller reports many upgrades done on the car including King XP P=max racing rod bearings, new connecting rod small end bushings, a magnafluxed crankshaft and micro-polished by Ed’s Crankshafts in Hayward CA, 11mm lift 270’ duration Elgin cams, cylinder head and ITB’s port matched and flowed 30mm venturi, radius valve job, combustion chamber polished valve/valve seats unshrouded, 95mm JE Pistons 10.3-1 compression, Dry film lubricant skirt, ceramic crown coating, an Evo lightweight flywheel, CSF aluminum radiator, new Behr heater core, a header back system built by DECCAT with a Stella muffler and the new exhaust is reported to be CARB approved, ARP rod bolts, new connecting rod small end bushings, ARP Main stud kit, ARP Head stud kit, ARP Head stud kit, E46 cam chain tensioner, new chains and tensioners, new clutch, new wires, plugs and cap, Kolbenschmitt main bearings, new coolant, and fluid reservoirs, and a new driveshaft bearing, new O2 sensor. One of the best driver’s cars in the compact segment is undoubtedly the fearsome BMW M3. Coming from a brand which once called itself the makers of the Ultimate Driving Machine, the M3 legacy began in 1986, as the halo variant of the 3-Series compact car. Since then, every generation of 3-Series has been accompanied by an M3 variant. M3s have been made as coupes, convertibles, sedans and estates, signifying a truly versatile yet hugely potent performance package for keen drivers. Today, we’ve got a superb 2022 BMW M3 Competition xDrive from Fort Lauderdale, Florida in our inventory. This 22,600-mile car is a Competition variant in four-door sedan form, and is up for the taking if you please.
BMW called themselves the makers of the Ultimate Driving Machine, and they certainly haven’t disappointed in the past. One of their icons is the M3, the high-performance derivative of their 3-Series compact luxury car. The first M3 came about in 1986, as part of the E30 generation, and wowed driving enthusiasts with its fizzy four-cylinder engine and keen handling prowess. Since then, there’s been an M3 for every 3-Series generation. Today, we’ve got an example from the E92 generation of 2007 to 2013. The E92 generation is interesting because it was the first and only time that the M3 got a V8 under its hood. That alone is reason enough to get your hands on this Virginia-based 2011 BMW M3 Coupe. The fact that it’s done 90,216 miles tells you that it’s a real addiction once you’re behind the wheel. Furthermore, this M3 has been blessed with an aftermarket forced induction system, granting it even more power to thrill. Strap in and give us a call or shoot us a DM if you want this wild ride to be yours.
Once in a proverbial blue moon, an automaker will showcase a jaw-dropping concept car and then…make a production car that’s very close in appearance and engineering. These gems of the automotive world are few and far between. One of those examples from the past fifteen or so years is the BMW i8. It started life as the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept in 2009. Two years later, BMW showcased a second concept called the i8 Concept, which was mildly changed. Then, in 2013, a prototype was revealed, and the actual thing was going into production by April 2014. With its space-era looks, hybrid powertrain and 0-60 time of 4.4 seconds, the BMW i8 was truly something like no other. Since production ended in 2020, it’s doubtless destined to be one of those cars that gains and maintains a cult following as time goes by. Just 6,776 were made in total, and we’ve got one of them today. Here’s a 2017 BMW i8 from Paradise Valley, Arizona for sale, with just under 10,000 miles done so far.
The Alpina B8 is perhaps the pinnacle of this niche vehicle manufacturer's range. Luxury in everything your hand can touch, and a pair of Weber carbs and a crank on their logo, reflecting the company's roots as a tuner. The first proper Alpina was not the old Fiats and Beetles that founder Burkard Bovensiepen tinkered with in his youth, but the A1 based on the BMW E21. Inevitably, they turned further away from being an outright race manufacturer towards focusing on their bespoke luxury models. Today, we have incredible examples like this 2023 BMW B8 Alpina Gran Coupe as a result. With as little as 9,494 miles on its clock, this beauty is available for sale in Cottleville, Missouri.
