Ford’s fifth-generation Mustang won much praise as it was considered a fitting homage to the first-generation, with retro-modern styling, power to match and an overall more complete package. Produced from 2005 to 2014, as you may imagine, it also had a Shelby-badged variant, as a tribute to American legend Carroll Shelby who lent his name and tuning expertise to many Mustangs throughout the years. If that’s the kind of thing that floats your boat here’s a nice 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible from Florida that’s a one-owner car with just 6,850 miles on it.

The lines penned by Sid Ramnarace for the fifth generation have led it to be considered one of the icons of the Mustang’s story. This 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible comes from the last year of the fifth generation before the nip-tuck sixth-generation entered the scene. This particular car wears a bright Race Red exterior paint coat, with a contrasting black convertible top. Whilst Shelby Mustangs come with an over-the-top stripe, this example has seen it deleted, as it may not be to everyone’s taste. The car rolls on gunmetal-gray alloy wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, behind which lurk black Brembo brake calipers A Shelby branded car cover is included to keep the beast comfy when parked, especially outdoors. The interior features a Charcoal Black color scheme and offers motoring for up to four occupants, top up or top down. Being a Shelby Mustang, you get the usual appointments such as the white cueball style gear shifter, Shelby badges on the trim, and Cobra motifs on the steering wheel boss and seat backs. The 220mph speedometer subtly reminds you that this ain’t no regular ‘Stang. The car also features the Shaker Pro audio system, dual-zone climate control and the Electronics Package which brings navigation to the table too.

Powering this 2014 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible is Ford’s 5.8L ‘Trinity’ DOHC supercharged V8 that drives the rear wheels via a Tremec 6060 6-speed manual transmission and single-piece carbon-fiber driveshaft. The power output is a staggering 662hp, whilst torque clocks in at 631lb-ft. A Torsen limited-slip differential, adjustable Bilstein dampers and Brembo brakes are some of the other highlights of the car. It’s also had a recent service and oil change, as well as received a new battery. How fast is it? Zero to sixty flashes up in just 3.5 seconds when you take advantage of the launch control, and whilst the convertible is electronically limited to 155mph, the coupe continues all the way to 202mph so if you remove the limiter…

Muscle cars are often regarded as aggressive machinery that makes their entrance with a whole lot of dramatic antics. While that statement is relevant, there is another side to muscle cars - their classic appeal is something that is overlooked when taking into account the performance they have to offer. Present today is this 1970 Ford Mustang Convertible. It's a muscle car in every right and showcases the tame side of muscle car ownership. Better yet, this lovely example has just a reported under 36,000 miles on its clock.

At the 2003 North American Auto Show, Ford debuted a concept car that previewed what the next Mustang could be. The current at the time fourth generation was becoming a little long in the tooth and soft in the flesh, despite Ford trying to spice it up with variants such as the Cobra R. Then, two years later, the fifth generation dropped and…people lost their minds! Here was a Mustang that had fantastic retro-modern looks, a properly fierce face, and the powertrain mix to back it up. Sales skyrocketed, with over 160,000 being sold in the United States alone, for 2005! Sales did temper a little after the initial rush, but during its nine-year run, they never went below 70,000 units per year! Taking example of this 2008 Ford Mustang GT that’s available in Douglasville, Georgia, it’s not hard to see why. This particular car is a drop-top and comes with the potent all-new at the time, all-aluminum Modular V8 at the time. One key is included with the sale of this 106,654-mile car.

Ford’s association with Shelby and resultant Shelby Mustangs was resurrected in 2008, after a long hiatus. You see, Carroll Shelby saw the potential of the first generation Mustang way back in the Sixties and created a special line-up of Shelby Mustangs that were widely regarded as fine performance machines. After that, consecutive generations didn’t receive Shelby treatment until the fifth generation. We don’t know why the Mustang II, Fox Body or SN195 didn’t get the Shelby pampering, but that’s all in the past. Now, we have a machine that has indeed come from the stables of Shelby, a 2012 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Super Snake. This potent pony is up for grabs in St. Simons Island, Georgia, and reportedly packs 800 horsepower! It’s done only 12,000 miles and is said to be #33 of 200, with Shelby documentation included with the sale.
