Overview of 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible For Sale by Owner

The sheer versatility of Ford’s Mustang that continues to the current sixth generation ensures that there’s an option for everyone. Want a drop-top? Done. Prefer a sleek and sporty fastback coupe? Done. Want a boulevard cruiser with adequate power? You can buy it. Want something with enough horsepower and torque to blow your tire budget in an evening? Call up Ford, Shelby, Roush, Saleen or Hennessey. This 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible is from the iconic first generation and represents a fine blend of top-down cruising and meaty V8 muscle. Reportedly having undergone a full restoration in 2017, it’s got a few upgrades to make life better.

Exterior and Interior

The most iconic body style of the first generation Mustang is the fastback, but there was also a hardtop and convertible offered. Sporting a Tuxedo Black paint job, this 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible is ideal if you prefer cruising and enjoying the weather. The car looks brilliant courtesy of the recent restoration, with all badges and brightwork present and correct. Venture about the red interior and it’s classic Sixties in a capsule. Four occupants can enjoy the open-air cruising, but when it gets warm, raise the top and crank up the aftermarket A/C unit for chilled breezes. Who said that you had to compromise in a Sixties car?

Engine

The first generation Mustang was offered by Ford with an array of no less than ten engines during its 1964 ½ - 1973 production run, with engines added and dropped each year. This 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible packs a suitably brawny but compact 289ci (4.7L) beneath its hood, good for over 200hp and 280lb-ft when new. Drive goes to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission for effortless and fuss-free cruising. You don’t need to worry about carburetors either, as this car has seen a useful upgrade in the shape fuel injection being recently installed. The brakes up front have been upgraded to discs for added stopping power.
