Background Story of this 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle

Overview of 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle For Sale by Owner

Definitely one of the most influential cars of all time, the Volkswagen Beetle sold over 21.5 million units in a production run spanning seven decades! Introduced in 1938 as a way to mobilize the ordinary German family, the Beetle soon started accomplishing this goal all over the world! It was a symbol of free culture during the Sixties, and to this day, remains one of the best starter classic cars in the world. Its simplistic mechanicals, oodles of charm and easy driving experience make it perfect for anyone who wants to try out classic cars. That’s why this 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle is not likely to stay available for long. With under 56,000 miles on the clock, you’d better act fast to secure this Portland-based Bug if it catches your fancy.

Exterior and Interior

This 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle’s body is clothed in a lovely shade of light yellow paint, but curiously, its left rear fender comes in a contrasting shade of metallic bluish gray. We aren’t sure why this is, but it sure makes an interesting conversation piece. Who knows, maybe you might decide to spray the three remaining fenders in this color as well – it certainly gels well against the hay yellow body. Or, you might just paint that fender in yellow too – the choice is yours, dear buyer! Either way, the car is a heart stealer, with its cutesy headlamps, friendly shape, chrome hubcaps and dainty wrap-around bumpers. The interior of this 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle is, like all Beetles, a proper four-seat affair. That’s because the car was intended as a family transporter, so proper adults can fit in its rear seats. The front seats feature a two-tone black and red upholstery theme for a touch of sportiness. You’ll also find a newer Kenwood Bluetooth-capable head unit with a CD player, AUX and USB inputs.

Engine

This 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle is propelled by a 1.6-liter air-cooled flat-four. The engine is said to be the dual port variant, and powers the rear axle through a 4-speed manual gearbox. You’ve also got dual-circuit hydraulic drum brakes at the front and rear. With its friendly purr, this Bug is guaranteed to worm its way into your heart!

VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$31,999

The Fox-body Mustang remains one of the most influential performance cars in American automotive history, and this 1988 Ford Mustang GT Hatchback represents a heavily upgraded example of the platform. 1974 Chevrolet Corvette

VERIFIED SELLER
PENDING SALE
$23,999

This 1974 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe, in all its orange glory, comes from an era of resilience. The C3 or third-gen ‘Vette is the longest-running of them all, with a fourteen-year production run between 1968 and 1982. Cars like this one are historically significant because they weathered the most dreaded time in American auto history; the Malaise Era. Even during those times, the Corvette was still the fastest American car available. Now, you can see why, when you take a closer look at this 24,000-mile machine from Island Lake, Illinois. It’s a survivor, a stunning looker, and above all, never compromised on engines by always having a V8 beneath the hood. So why not buy this beautiful boulevard cruiser and stick it to today’s soulless EVs?
