Background Story of this 1973 Porsche 911

Overview of 1973 Porsche 911 For Sale by Owner

Every petrolhead’s dream, a classic Porsche 911 is a truly awesome automobile to drive. Whether it’s a trip to the hypermarket or a blast down a back road, this rear-engined, air-cooled machine lets you feel every tingly sensation that good driving brings. Today’s 1973 Porsche 911T comes from Torrance, California and has done 94,361 miles on the clock. The current owner reports that it’s a numbers-matching car with a bored-out engine, granting you even more excitement every time you tap the throttle pedal.

Exterior and Interior

This black 1973 Porsche 911T features a lovely set of black dished alloy wheels with a contrasting silver lip, as well as the iconic ducktail spoiler that’s commonly seen on the 911 RS from the same era. It’s a stunner to behold as you drive along, with the iconic teardrop shape instantly turning heads while the flat-six rumble emanates from the twin tailpipes out back. There’s no mistaking this breathtaking car for anything else, really. After all, that’s the essence of a 911, its iconic shape that continues right throughout into the very latest 2025 model year variants. The interior of this 1973 Porsche 911T features sporty red and black leather seats, in the typical 2+2 configuration that most 911s come with (unless you go for the really hardcore racing variants which do away with the rear seats). Speaking of rear seats, they’re suitable for children, or a single adult sitting sideways. The front seats, on the other hand, are amply spacious, comfortable and well-bolstered. Then, you’ve got a black dash with a wood stripe across it, and a quintet of analog dials. This five-dial instrument binnacle is another 911 staple, and one that once again, continues into the 2025 model, albeit with some digital readouts instead. On the other hand, everything in this car remains raw and analog. The only modernity we see is the Kenwood flip-down radio. As for cargo, that goes up front because the engine’s out back, remember!

Engine

This 1973 Porsche 911T has got a 2.4-liter flat six, albeit bored out to 2.7 liters for more power and performance. It’s paired with a neat 5-speed manual transmission that’s an absolute delight to row through the gears. The car is rear-wheel drive as you’d expect.

1987 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet

PENDING SALE

SOLD

Porsche’s fine 911 was already making waves in sports car circles when Porsche decided to go even further. Strapping a turbocharger onto an air-cooled engine wasn’t a particularly easy task, especially when said engine sits in the tail, rather than the nose of the car in question. Yet, Porsche did it by 1975 with the 930-generation Turbo. Known for its thrilling driving experience and need for respect by its driver, the 930 would see the original 3.0-liter flat-six enlarged to 3.3-liters by 1978. That’s what this 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet packs, and we’re told that it’s 1 of just 183 US-market examples for that particular year. With 54,199 miles on the clock and the original owner’s manuals included with the sale, this is a fantastic buy for a driver who likes a bit of a challenge, as well as owning and driving something of great automotive historical significance.
