Overview of 1978 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT For Sale by Owner

Ford’s Bronco was the first Sport Utility Vehicle – that’s SUV to you and me – to be developed by Ford. When it was released in 1966, it became clear that the Blue Oval had knocked it out of the park on their first try. The Bronco would be a sales success, with five generations made until 1996, then a twenty five year hiatus and a fine sixth generation that continues on sale to this day. Owning a classic Bronco is a bucket list item for many, and we’ve got one vehicle up for grabs today. Here’s a second-generation 1978 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT up for sale in Downey, California. The second generation was introduced in 1978, making this vehicle straight from the first year of production. It’s got under 95,000 miles on the clock, a 400ci V8 under the hood and a nice green two-tone color theme about it. A Marti report is included with the sale.

Exterior and Interior

This 1978 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT wears a Bright Jade Metallic and Dark Jade Metallic two-tone color theme which really makes it stand out. The vehicle has definitely got presence, aided by its 15-inch alloy wheels and BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A tires. Few SUVs today have such meaty sidewalls and right-sized rims that make them ready to go off-roading on a whim; yet this Bronco is up for it. It’s also got a Wimbledon White fiberglass removable hardtop for a spot of open-air motoring; another Bronco signature feature. Step inside this 1978 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT and you’ll be greeted by a Medium Jade Knit vinyl and cloth interior with Houndstooth-style inserts. It’s very period correct, with factory air conditioning and a tilt steering wheel. Four adults can easily travel inside this SUV and there’s a retro-modern radio head unit in place for music.

Engine

This 1978 Ford Bronco Ranger XLT comes with a 400ci naturally aspirated V8. We’re told that it has a Motorcraft 2-barrel carburetor on it. Power is sent to the wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission, and naturally, you’ve got four-wheel drive!
