



The Camaro platform was introduced in 1966 as a pony car to compete with Ford's wildly successful Mustang. It quickly rose to fame and became very desirable among both muscle car and sports car enthusiasts. The third-generation Camaro was introduced in 1982, and it modernized the platform heavily with innovations in all departments. The IROC-Z was a performance option that was exclusively available on the Z28 Camaro. It was born out of a racing series, making it a unique Camaro trim level with Corvette DNA. This is a well-preserved example of a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Coupe with just 4,820 miles.

The third-generation Camaro gives a nod to its iconic styling cues with the same swooping roofline and wide hips. Nevertheless, it did update the styling. To fit with the 80s trends, the round headlights were swapped for square lights, and overall the design was changed to a more edgy and squared-off look. This Camaro is finished in a factory red paint job that is accented by the gold livery. It is also fitted with IROC-Z ground effects, which adds a lower body kit to the entire car. Also part of the IROC package are unique five-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/50/VR16 Goodyear tires. To complete the stance, the car is also lowered from the factory. The interior of this car is a blast from the past, featuring round gauges and beige cloth bucket seats. The T-tops make for a perfect Sunday cruiser for when you want the wind in your hair. The interior has been timelessly kept original; even the original radio player is still in the car.

The Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z got the performance upgrades of the Z-28. As a result, our subject car is powered by the 205hp 5.0 litre V8, the LB9 with tuned port injection. This engine option was only available with the 4-speed automatic transmission. The handling was improved over the stock Camaro as well with specially valved Delco-Bilstein dampers, larger diameter sway bars, and a steering/frame brace known as the “wonder bar”. All service items on this car had been replaced including new filters, battery, and a recent oil change.
